This season was designed to cater to the mindless people who shipped Violate. It lacks the substance of Asylum but I still think it’s more entertaining and interesting than Murder House. Queenie said she overeats as a means of comfort.
I agree to disagree. Murder House was a very weak series but I say that because Asylum is my favorite, MH felt like it wanted to be more but didn't want to take that risk of doing anything so it kept to itself. The characters were, as most of the other series, stereotyped to hell and the 'love' was blown so far out of proportion its in the spaceship with Kit.
Don't get me wrong Coven is really funny, it's entertaining and as some kind of weird ass sitcom I probably would have loved it but as something that falls in the horror genre I can't justify that. There were some very dark themes this series. Themes that, had they been done right, could have been fucking amazing. Kyle's story with his mother, that was dark as hell. That should have been expanded on and dropped at a later date, maybe episode 3/4 and expanded throughout 2/3 instead of immediately killing her because then we feel more for him, its prolonged, it becomes worse. Kathy Bates' parts. The cancer element etc. All great stuff, it needed more of it.
Well that explains some bits but why does she need comfort? Why is she so lonely? Why is she so isolated? Yes she 'hasn't found her tribe' like Misty but there had to be something wrong in either her childhood or later life that dictated that. Perhaps melding it with the bestiality would have been amazingly dark.
