so we’re gonna start this with the bare essentials first - what you should know about the serpico family and where they came from. basically illia and titan met on the battlefield and fell in love , as people usually do - duh. anyway …
ILLIA.
(fantasy ) russian snake mom , full “ medusa ” as they’re actually called , a tiny bit different than regular gorgons in a few ways. she knew how to fight , she had this neat trick where she could have either legs or a serpentine tail. she was seen as the leader of their little clan ( they had a crest and everything - dema has it tattooed on her spine ) due to coloration and strong leadership. a very strong lady who had the actual ability to turn someone to stone. when the attack on their camp happened , illia pinpointed titan as the reason and killed him so that she could flee the rest of his people slaughtering and burning the rest of the sneople ( snake people ) and save her children. she lost artemis trying to get dema to safety and was going back to get him when they caught her and beheaded her before she could even attempt. she went out the traditional medusa way. dema would be a lot different now if illia was still alive.
TITAN.
certified piece of garbage dad. he put on a good guy act until he decided it was time to take over and show people that monsters can be manipulated just like any other living thing. of course , he was the type to believe a first - born son was more important than any daughter , and took artemis under his wing as soon as the lil’ guy could walk and talk. when dema was born , he basically just neglected her - but illia was the best mom ever and cared for both of them despite giving dema a little more attention due to circumstances. titan had more plans for the medusa but fucked it up for himself , luckily. nothing of that camp remains. but a few of his shitty people do , and they may or may not be searching for the last of the serpico family.
ARTEMIS.
kind of trash snake brother. definitely took on more of the human genes than dema , but he’s always been happier that way. no one necessarily realizes what he is , so he’s treated normally and never truly given the stink eye for features alone - unless we’re talking about his dumbass nipple rings then yeah , that’s it. he likes being at the center of attention and being the best at things , he got his selfishness from titan and expanded on that. when he was separated from illia and dema when they were on the run from the attackers , he was taken in by titan’s people rather than murdered immediately and brainwashed to believe the sneople ( snake people ) were awful , bad monsters despite him being half. grew up in a nice house with a nice father figure ( in his eyes ). and he’s a monk so why wear clothes.
