Library worker pet peeve: books made with uneven edges to be "stylized"
I ONCE FELT AS YOU DO, FRIEND, but then I got put in charge of book repair, and I realized that with those stylish uneven edges, it is way easier to make a repaired book not look like a Frankensteinian monster. If a straight-edged book is glued back together the least bit wrong, it will be as obvious as Charles and Erik’s epic love -- or, dare I say it, even more so. (Hard to imagine, I know.) Whereas the uneven edges are ever so much more forgiving!
