“I’m not here to lecture you,” Arianna kept a respectful distance from the cell, after all, the last time they’d been in close proximity the boy had literally tried to crush her. But she understood why he’d done what he did, and that’s why she was here. She took a step closer to iron bars, “I just wanted to check on you.”
⚛ “Check in on me?”
He scoffed, refusing to face her, looking instead at the wall, the way the moon streamed in, making a mockery of him with it’s calming nature. Everything outside was just back to normal as if logic and reason had not just fallen apart before his very eyes. His dad... should have been the one talking to him.
His dad should have been sitting with him, at home, maybe cooking dinner.
They should have been together- talking about the farm, the way the weather would affect the harvest, the future of Old Corona.
“I don’t need your pity, your highness. It’s too late to pretend you care about me, or my family. Dad is gone.”
