Another field trip shot. As in most cases these kind of shots happen because random figures from previous shots (or attempts to tidy up shelves) still lie around on the desk. In this particular case Han stood with 3PO on my shelf arm in arm for months until I needed 3PO for the previous shots (I wanted to see how well he can sit in the back of the speeder). As for the Luke/Leia romance: both figures are newly acquired and I always wanted to have a permanent custom Leia like this, wearing Luke‘s shirt, which I find looks cool on her. The 50s style motive to have your girlfriend ride along with you in your (uncle’s) car stuck in my head and needed to be executed. I don’t really care if they became brother and sister later on in ROTJ and to be honest I found that idea ridiculous even as a ten year old. The revelation of Vader being Luke’s father already was enough and not yet fully sank in during the two years between Empire and Jedi. Anyhow, here I added Han to the scene, who seems to have said something wrong to Leia earlier and tries to excuse his behavior while Leia is not only insulted but also frustrated with the situation Luke has brought them into, as he apparently lost his way.
