We are the new LDA volunteers based in Brtonigla/Verteneglio, Croatia. We are looking forward to spending the next 11 months here and helping the local community.

This Father’s Day we’ve teamed up with @DoveMenCare to highlight some of the strong, impactful father figures in our lives who were always #ThereToCare! We are incredibly fortunate to have Jason (aka “Zippy”) as a role model and mentor. We chat on a daily basis and are inspired by his endless wisdom as an LGBTQ retired policeman. 77% of dads today say when you pass down advice to their kids about hygiene and grooming they are reminded of what there parents taught them. I am teaming up with @dovemencare #dovemencare celebrating Lito on this #grandparentsDay because he always there to take his grandchildren fishing for hours at a time to give him advice. #theretocare #grandparentsDay #DoveMenPartner #dovemenDad

This #FathersDay, I am proud to partner with @dovemencare to celebrate all the men in each of our lives that have been #ThereToCare as friends, mentors, teachers and father figures. I’d like you to meet my father Agustin, my partner Joel, my brother-in-law Daniel, and my nephew Xavier. Three generations of men that have shaped my views of life and what it means to be a man. My father has taught me the value of hard work and perseverance, and that there is nothing more important in this world than family. My partner has taught me that true love is the only thing that gives life meaning, and that it is possible to meet someone who thinks you’re perfect despite your flaws. My brother in law has taught me that the true measure of a man is not how he behaves in moments of comfort and convenience but how he stands at time of controversy and challenges. And last but not least, my nephew has taught me that one of the greatest gifts in life is being tasked with the responsibility of being a role model, because whether you choose to be one or not, it is an incredibly special burden to have to strive to set the best example possible. Each of these men have inspired me to be the best version of myself, not because they’re rich, beautiful, perfect or brilliant, but because with every step along the way, they have celebrated my successes, supported my dreams and helped me to overcome my challenges. Thank you for always being #ThereToCare I love you with all of my heart! Happy Father’s Day!

This #FathersDay, I am proud to partner with @dovemencare to celebrate all the men in each of our lives who understand that real strength means showing you care. I’ve been fortunate enough to have grown up with the most incredible father in the world, in addition to plenty of male role models that have been #ThereToCare as friends, mentors, teachers and father figures. Today I would like for you to meet Aaron Kahlenberg, my former high school architecture teacher. Who would have known that the day I walked into this man’s classroom 17 years ago, that my entire life would change forever. He saw something in the unapologetically opinionated and creative gay teenager that I was and he pushed for me to celebrate it. Over the course of the next four years, Aaron taught me that it was important to sweat the small details, but that I should never forget about the bigger picture. He showed me that my imagination was not bound by the limits of reality, but by how hard I was willing to work to make my dreams come true. And most important of all, that the definition of a man was not how strong or successful you could become, but by how you behaved when no one was looking. Today, even after so many years, I am incredibly honored to still call him my friend, and will forever be grateful for his invaluable support and guidance! Happy Father’s Day Aaron!
