OVERVIEW:

From the moment she was born, Faeda's life had been planned out for her. She would be trained to fight and fight she would, for the divine cause of the Angels. To keep the winged ones on top and the horned ones below. There was no greater honour than to lay one's life down for the cause. Or so they would have had her believe. As Faeda saw those around her perish in the war, she began to wonder what benefit lower class Angels like her reaped from the ceaseless conflict. So she fled. Deserting the war effort, she spent the best part of a century evading capture and searching for a true life. Travelling from city to city below the clouds, she struggled to see how the war benefitted anyone but those who remained above the clouds, out of the battles. Then the fall came. Thrust into a new world in The Ridge, Faeda was free from her status to start a new life. Whilst most of her peers joined the police force, still trapped in the lie that said their divine purpose was to uphold orders, Faeda started a new life. She has her cafe now, a place where she makes the rules and all are welcome. She loves to make all feel welcome, regardless of race or status and is often the friendly face that greets most newcomers. 

CONNECTIONS:

Calliel Lightfeather  - He isn't the only Angel to frequent her shop, but he is one of the few from the old elite. Faeda can't decide if she resents or pities his devotion to the cause. She does her best to make him feel welcome regardless, even if she does sometimes feel like he is going to brand her a traitor and lock her up.

Galorfril Unembor - Her feelings towards Gally area mixed bag. She'll always be thankful for the new start that The Ridge and the Elves like him have her. Though, the part of her that has a problem with authority makes her cautious of him, even though she knows he only wants what's best, rather than to impose his own agenda.

Victoria Amberstone - She had seen the human grow, she had seen her hurt, she had seen her lose everything and build herself back up. Faeda had kept her eye on Victoria, careful not to overstep, but she would always be ready to help her if asked. She didn't know why, but she saw a lot of herself in the young human.

OVERVIEW:

As long as Lacey could remember she had always deeply embraced the way of the Shifter; it was all she had ever known and was brought up with a deep respect and reverence for what she was. Her parents, Shifters themselves, ensured that Lacey was highly educated in both the ways and the history of their race and she excelled, and she has taken the place of a storyteller, a way to preserve the legacy of the Shifters; although she may be highly acquainted with the ways of her own people she is ignorant to the dangers and turmoil of the world outside. Her parents warned of something, of a magic and mischief that brewed in The Ridge and, after their sudden deaths, it ignited a new fire within her to go outside of her comfort zone and explore the unknown for herself.

CONNECTIONS:

Tucker Pendal - A new Shifter. Lacey immediately embraced him, despite the voices from the others that thought it was too soon for someone that that they didn’t know. Still, no thought could break Lacey’s heart more than a new person, a new Shifter, coming to a new town and trying to create a home when one was already ready made for him.

Adil Malek - She prided herself as perhaps being one of the few people that Adil would consider to be a friend. He was a hard individual to understand, and even harder to get to know, but he has always been a sort of lightning rod to her sometimes cautious soul. His words, although blunt, always seemed to bring her back to reality.

Emmy Rauvelien - There is a spark of life in Emmy that anyone would find alluring, especially Lacey. They don’t seem to be bogged down by the reality of things, seems to be care-free in a way that Lacey had always dreamed and, through their quickly growing friendship, Lacey hopes to become more like Emmy.

OVERVIEW:

As other’s might put it, Isilwen spent most of her formative years in her brother’s shadow. Having been born when he was already a few centuries old, it was always clear that he would take the throne when the time came. Nothing Isilwen could have done in her early years would have changed their Father’s mind about that. A fact, with which, Isilwen was completely content. She knew from a babe that leadership was not for her. Her brother would receive the true sight from their father, as well as the mantle of Regent and she would join the knowledge keepers.  Their lives were planned out by the sight of the Regents before them and they did not doubt. Though, no Regent foresaw the fall of their world and no knowledge keeper had heard tell of the place that they escaped to. It was Isilwen who had touched the stones of the town gate and seen the The Ridge had burst into existence the instant they arrived there. It was Isilwen who began to rebuild the vast collection of knowledge they had lost. Over the coming ages, whilst her brother brokered peace and welcomed strangers, she curated and cultivated the collection of books tomes and scrolls in The Ridge’s library. All manner of lost things find their way to The Ridge and Isilwen needs only touch them to learn their history. Their new lives only further cemented the idea that Isilwen would never have to worry about being Regent. Before the Ridge, it was clear that Olinir would rule for millennia and have an heir take over if ever he chose to depart. Since then, it had been clear that departure wasn’t an option. They were the last of their kind, unable to reproduce, so Olinir would remain the Regent. It was never discussed, but understood by all. They had a responsibility to remain. Now, Olinir is gone, leaving only a note that neither explains nor excuses his desertion and the peace that once ensured the survival of their kind is being threatened. So, Isilwen continues to what she does best. Reading. She believes that somewhere in the cavernous halls of the library, there will be something, either recalled from the tomes of the old world or discovered in the scripts of the new, that will explain his disappearance and what she is to do in his absence. She keeps faith that Olinir disappeared of his own volition and is resolute in her decision not to try taking his place. The best she can hope to do is learn as much as possible about the past, in hopes that it will help her prepare for the future.

Name: Salix WIllowbark Age: 1983 appears 20 Race: Fae Occupation: Unemployed Face: Hero Fiennes-Tiffin Status: Taken

OVERVIEW:

Salix Willowbark is a being solely for themselves. They enjoy the foundations of the Fae, their connection to nature and the life that is embedded into their way of being, both those are all perks to serve a more basic need: to live life at it’s fullest. He doesn’t care about the Fae Court, doesn’t care for the battles that had brought so many other races into The Ridge, and cares even less for the Elves and Angels that attempt to police him. He operates on his own code, acting and being on a whim as easily as the wind changes direction, and nothing can stop him in his quest to simply exist uninhibited. With Olinir gone, and the races closing rank, Salix is a source of trickery and foolishness, actively trying to sabotage efforts that may tip the balance in any particular races favour. 

CONNECTIONS:

Amir Muaz - Salix finds the Djinn of The Ridge to be the most agreeable company, only because they are the closest thing to truest neutral, and none more than Amir. They are not bothered by the politics, and Amir is a helpful distraction lately when all anyone has to say involves plans and strategies.

Aspen Grassknot - Of all the Fae, Aspen seems the most like him. Taken by the beauty of things, the other Fae simply wants to experience all the world has to offer. Aspen, more than any other Fae, has the ability to drive the smallest amount of caution into Salix. 

Hiba Keboos - There is something brewing within Hiba, something that is much more than the unbiased and careless nature of typical Djinn. It’s interesting, only because it is unknown to Salix, and he intends to find out exactly what Hiba is brewing up in that beautiful mind of theirs.

Name: Echo Pinefoot Age: 130 Appears 21 Race: Fae Occupation: Grocery Vendor Face: Utp Status: Open

Traits: Trusting, Warm, Nurturing            Naive, Forward, Tactless

OVERVIEW:

Still very much a child to the rest of his race, Echo is a one of a kind Fae. Born from the last remaining flower in a barren landscape, he was the final breath of life from an old Fae battlefield. His flower died after birthing him, gifting it's life rather than taking his. Echo flew from the land and searched the Fae realm for a new home. In his travels, he heard stories of other worlds, rife with beings who lived apart from the natural world. Tired from the life of an outcast as an unbound Fae, he eventually found himself in The Ridge. Echo immediately knew that he was meant to be there. Now, the unbound Fae enjoys a life of his own making. He returns to the wild lands outside of The Ridge to grow the crops he needs for his stall, but feels at home in town, selling his wares and connecting with people and races of all kinds. He brings a smile to most faces and can't help but feel that the Fae who would call him a traitor to nature are missing out on whole other kind of beauty in the people of The Ridge. There are others like him, who are no longer tethered to the flora that they were born from, but none who were born that way. Sometimes Echo feels lonely on his circumstances, but mostly blessed with a freedom that no other Fae knows.

CONNECTIONS:

Dax Loran - It was Dax who had first approached Echo upon meeting, not that Echo wouldn’t have eventually succumbed to the urge to introduce himself to every new face, but it was that forwardness that made the human seem so ... different. Echo wants to get to know him better, but the Fae is also fearful of what they might find if they succeed. 

Victoria Amberstone- Echo loves humans, he loves their resolve, their drive, their resourcefulness. The way they live is fascinating to him and in his efforts to assimilate into human society he met Victoria. In his mind, the strongest human in The Ridge. Echo didn't know what it was to have familial connection, but he had heard about it, and heard the feeling of loss described. This painted the picture of Victoria's strength for him. He hopes to help her find a new meaning beyond what she has lost, like his did.

Hiba Keboos - It's extremely uncharacteristic of Echo not to trust, which makes it all the more confusing to him that he doesn't feel he can trust Hiba. He can't put his finger on it  but something about their smile is different to anyone else's and it gives Echo the creeps.

OVERVIEW:

Rhaeda is one of the oldest and wisest beings in The Ridge, although you would have a hard time knowing this based upon how she presents herself. In her age, and after inhabiting so many times and realms, every place seemed to take a part of her and she lives in all of these planes of existence at one time. She serves as a liaison to the Fae Court, a representative for Fae matters in The Ridge and because of this she has become a defacto leader of the Fae that call the town home. She means well, but she finds it hard to communicate and settle with so many thoughts and fragments running through her head and, because of this, some cast her aside as nothing more than an eccentric business owner. Her shop, filled with antiquities of old, is more of a display of all the treasures she has collected. Rhaeda hopes to find and grow peace in The Ridge through avoiding the mistakes of so many realms before it.

CONNECTIONS:

Michael Damnicus - An Angel not of his time, a sort of moderation between the strict order that Angels seem to crave, but Rhaeda knows that there is beauty in the wild and many prizes to be found in letting things be as they are. She finds him different than the rest, and finds hope for the Angels through him.

Echo Pinefoot - A flower in the dessert, Rhaeda always knew that Echo was resilient. They had been through so much more than most Fae, did not experience the easy and carefree life that one would expect when met by Echo’s brilliant joie de vie, but it’s this perserverance that has Echo down as one of Rhaeda’s favourites ... and she constantly sings his praises to the Fae Court.

Joaquin Vasquez - Rhaeda is well aware of how much of a purist the Shifter is, but this doesn’t deter her from trying to know him better ... if only she could understand why. She’s no closer to getting answers as she is getting a spare moment of his time but, with resentment that deep, there must be a reason.

OVERVIEW:

Victoria’s heart had been a fragile one, an open one and, when it broke, there was no hope for it to ever have been fixed. Her parents died in a fire that erupted in the town and, ever since that day, Victoria promised herself that she would never allow herself to feel such agony again. Alone since the age of sixteen, she learned how to survive as best she could, but she never truly lived. Although outwardly antagonistic and brash, she does so in order to keep people at bay; people that, if allowed to run rampant in her heart, could caused it to break once more. This is all she has ever known, but she has always thought that there was something more to her parents ‘accident’ and, with nearly a decade of built up anger and resentment, she thinks that perhaps it would be better if she never knew.

CONNECTIONS:

Timor Canticum - They have never spoken but Timor watches over her afar, guilt-ridden and burdened with the truth that Victoria’s parents died due to a fire that a Demon had caused. Timor hopes to tell her one day but, in order to do so, the Demon needs to get close to the human, which is an near impossible task.

Marylou Dale - From the very few conversations they had had with one another it was clear that they were kindred spirits, as unfortunate as that may have been. Both women have hard pasts not worth talking about and although Victoria knows herself capable, Marylou seems to have a different kind of inner strength that Victoria craves.

Anson Ripley - She can’t tolerate him but he always insists upon frequenting the bar she works in. He’s shifty, overly charismatic and certainly up to something if he’s trying this hard to get her to so much as introduce her name. Victoria doesn’t trust him at all.

OVERVIEW:

Galorfril has been an emissary and advisor to the Elven regent since time immemorial. He was there for Olinir before, during and after the Elves move to the Ridge and has remained by his side ever since. With the Regent gone, Galorfril worries for those left behind. He has made it his mission to familiarize himself with the residents of the Ridge, but keeping an Elven presence has grown tougher over the centuries as his cohorts withdrew further into the recesses of the library.

CONNECTIONS:

Isilwen Telemnar - Galorfril has known Isilwen since she was born. With Olinir gone, his younger sister has withdrawn further from society and try as Gally might, he cannot convince her to give up her search for answers and assume the role of Regent. 

Morah Fezih - He doesn’t trust Morah, but as the most prominent member of a very secretive race, Gally recognises that he must keep them close if he wants to learn more about them.

Dax Loran - New humans in town often need someone to keep an eye on them. Gally normally doesn’t bother himself with the task, there are plenty of people in town who like to pretend to be the welcoming committee. However, Galorfril feels drawn to Dax and without Olinir around to tell him why, he intends to find out.
