Welcome to the future,

wonder what we’ll do,

New Year’s was a party,

the Spanish flu was spent,

booze was quite illegal,

but it didn’t make a dent.

Jazz was in the nightclubs,

flappers on the floor

dancing while the bouncer

kept one eye upon the door.

Now we have Corona,

the liquor laws are tame,

but roaring like the twenties?

Here’s a new in-progress freehand drawing of Humphrey Bogart. I have been on a Bogie kick lately, watching as many of his movies as I can find. It’s funny, because a few years ago, I watched The Maltese Falcon with a good friend and we both didn’t like it. And I didn’t care for Bogart. I more recently rewatched it and not only liked it, but really liked Bogart’s performance. I LOVE old movies. My grandparents were passionate about them and passed their love for them on to my mom who passed it on to me. I really loved talking to my grandmother about the movies I’d watch. I’d often bring them up to her on a holiday at her house and she’d act like I uncovered a bar of gold. “Ohhh, yeeeeah! I remember that picture!” She’d say. And then, depending on the cast, she’d be like “wasn’t Cary Grant something in that picture?! So handsome!” LOL and we’d talk about plot points and the cast… sigh. I miss her so much. This year makes 3 years since she passed. She was one of the kindest and sweetest people to me ever.
