Some days the weather sucks, others your coworkers are frustrating, and still others are rough for things having nothing to do with work. But multiple times a week I get to hike, 4×4, exercise, learn something new, and see spectacular sights; the sort of things I would go out of my way and make time for back home. You could say I'm lucky. And you would be right. I'm incredibly fortunate and grateful for this experience. A week from now it will all be over. I'll miss this place and these people. It's only September and I'm already looking into internships for this coming summer.

This past summer, I worked with the SCA on a community crew, and I loved it.  It was one of the best experiences I have ever had.  As of right now, there are only two internships that I am elegible for (All the others require a drivers licence valid for at least three years, I have had mine for just over one) and run while I do not have class.  One is in Washington, the other is in Alaska.  While the one in alaska overlaps with my first two weeks of classes, I am majoring in wildlife conservation, I think it would be pretty easy to get those excused.  And really, it's Alaska!  I've wanted to go there for years.

I'll also learn how to shoot a rifle... Which is also rather appealing.

I'm going to speak with my mom about the internships over the weekend while I'm home.  Even though I'm not going to start applying for a few months, I want to let her know what I'm looking into.  I may very well end up doing a community crew again, but I'm definitely not ruling out the possibility of going across the country for an internship.
