Today on a journey to get rid of my fear of overwatch comp - went in alone, people ask what character we’d want them to play, I say “off-healer or damage dealer, choose what makes you feel safest, but be ready to change if they counter you hard.”
Game goes on, I ask if someone wants to change to Reaper cause they have 3 tanks. Our tracer does that. Game continues and we get rocked hard. In the game, one of my teammates tells me they like my way of leading the party, not telling people they’re shit or anything, but to try to control the situation calmly. I say thank you.
We lose. I apologize to our mercy for not being able to protect her better. She says it’s okay. I tell my team we did a good goddamn job with the game even though we lost.
At the end of the game, I get 2 friend requests from my team. One of them, our mercy, wants to group up, apparently liked my style of leading as well.
It feels good. It really does, to have this happen.
Comp can be rewarding even in loss.
