I was online the other day looking for some nice chocolate chip cookies for my Christmas breakfast. (Long tradition. I recommend it.) I found some Martha Stewart cookies, and that seemed a pretty safe bet... though I was confused by the 4/5 stars.
Still made them. They were fucking delicious. So delicious I felt safe handing them out to people as gifts. Soft and tasty. Which led to the obvious question: why the 4/5 stars? Now that I had tried the cookies myself, I decided to go check out the reviews.
Some of the reviews were raving and were clearly happy with the cookies! They gave three stars.
Most of the lower reviews had no clarifying comments at all. ??? Trolls, maybe? Bots? People who just didn't like her or cookies????
Then, of course, you had the comments of "Well, I wanted this type of cookie and I was so disappointed that these cookies didn't fit my specific taste! Absolutely don't make these cookies unless you want this type of cookie! Ugh!"
So yeah. Don't blindly trust the stars or reviews. Often, they don't mean that much.
