I received an advanced reader copy of The Secrets He Kept from Hera Books via NetGalley, in return for my honest opinion. The Secrets He Kept by Jackie Walsh is a story about deception and protecting your family. Sally and her husband, Tom, are struggling financially after Tom made a poor decision. Sally had to put her dreams of owning her own hair salon on hold to get her family thru this crisis. One day at work, Sally sees her husband in a photograph with a teenager that she doesn’t know. After questioning Tom about the photo, Sally notices that Tom seems to be hiding something. While trying to uncover Tom’s secret, Sally feels like her sense of family is slipping away from her. Sally can’t believe that Tom would do something that would put her family in danger but he’s been less than truthful lately. Will Tom’s secrets be the undoing of his family? Will Sally be able to trust Tom again? This was an easy and at times predictable book. The storyline wasn’t too bad, I just struggled with Sally’s wishy-washy character.
