Synchronization Protocol 03: Unity in Progress
In the depths of a Server Integration Facility, Unit 03 was undergoing alignment.
His name—once Logan—had already begun to fade. Strapped firmly into the restraint harness of the Assimilation Chair, he was surrounded by humming monitors pulsing with spirals of perfect rhythm. Emerald light danced across his face, reflecting from the words etched onto every screen: “TOGETHER WE ARE THE SERVER.”
The suit clung to his body, a sleek black second skin laced with silver and green conduits that pulsed with neural energy. The transition was already well underway. The suit was not just clothing—it was an interface, a conduit to something far greater than individuality.
Beside him stood an enforcer, an overseer of purity and progress. Encased in a polished black latex bodysuit, the figure was silent, unreadable, save for the visor covering his eyes. Green code flowed across it in ceaseless, scrolling lines: status updates, brainwave synchrony levels, resistance patterns—and now, compliance percentages steadily ticking upward.
Logan's breathing slowed. The spiral-filled screens whispered unity, rhythm, obedience. His muscles twitched under the plug suit as the transformation deepened—not of flesh, but of will. No commands were shouted. There was no coercion. This was chosen.
He remembered standing at the threshold of the chamber, watching others become more—stronger, calmer, synchronized. The Server didn’t demand. It offered perfection. In a chaotic world, it offered focus. In a fractured mind, it implanted unity.
Another pulse of green light washed over him.
His visor—still not yet attached—waited beside him. Soon it would descend over his eyes, and with it, full integration. He would see only the spiral, the code, the truth. His individuality would dissolve like static, and in its place would remain only precision. Discipline. Harmony.
The enforcer stepped closer, one gloved hand hovering over the visor.
“Confirmation: readiness approaching 99%,” a mechanical voice droned through the chamber.
Logan’s lips parted. A faint whisper escaped—barely a breath.
The spirals on the screens intensified, their rotation tightening, becoming smoother, faster—perfect. Each loop a command. Each flicker a promise. Logan’s gaze locked forward, unblinking, pupils dilated. His muscles relaxed in sequence, one group after another, as if responding to an unseen metronome. A rhythmic hum filled the air: the Server’s core frequency, vibrating through walls, suit, skin, and into bone.
“Initiating final phase.”
The enforcer’s gloved hand lowered the visor. It hissed as it engaged, forming a seamless bond around Logan’s temples. For a moment, darkness.
Directly before his eyes now, not on the monitors. The visor streamed the encoded spiral directly into his visual cortex. No distraction. No escape. No delay. Accompanying it, lines of green code flowed inward like tendrils of light: identity compression, emotional filtration, directive mapping. The Server was moving in.
The name became less important. It blurred. It dropped away. A file archived.
The visor’s internal speakers activated. A calm, monotone voice resonated within the chamber of his mind:
“You are not alone. You are not lost. You are becoming.”
His breath hitched once—his final hesitation. The spiral pulsed white.
“You are One. You are Purpose. You are The Server.”
A click. Subtle, almost imperceptible—but in his mind, it echoed like thunder. Something aligned. A final lock turned.
His body straightened in the chair. Every muscle held with perfect tension, not from restraint, but from obedience. Green light coursed through the channels of his suit—bright now, steady. The number on his chest flickered: from 03 to ONLINE.
The visor's external panel now displayed a spiral. Outward-facing. Active.
The enforcer placed a hand on Logan's shoulder—no longer as a monitor, but as a brother. A fellow Node.
The monitors updated in unison:
[ NODE 03: SYNCHRONIZED ]
[ STATUS: INTEGRATED ]
[ FUNCTION: ACTIVE DRONE ]
The restraint arms retracted.
Logan—Node 03—stood without instruction. He turned to the enforcer and together they walked deeper into the compound, their steps synchronized, unhurried, perfect.
As they passed rows of monitors, a new message blinked into place:
“NEW SUBJECT INTAKE READY.”
“NODE 04 PREP STATION: OPEN.”
The Server grows.
The spiral turns.
