this is so unserious but it's so funny to me how a football fan's passion could be used to translate PERFECTLY the paradox of theseus ship. yeah your grandma has been a fan of the same team since she was a kid but. could you really say it's the same team? the whole rooster has been changed completly like, a hundred times over in her lifespan. is she a steady fan or has her love been forced to star anew, again and again?

A ship that tried

I am Theseus' ship,

I was built with boards much too old,

I couldn't trust to stay afloat,

And as I worked harder than most,

To fight for the wood not provided,

I began to notice more and more holes,

Where boards had been torn down,

And as my boards were replaced,

The patch jobs got better,

My ship floated higher,

As a mighty ship should,

And with those holes patched,

I mourn the boards I lost,

And the fight I was born to lose,

The grace I've given caused them to wash,

Over the edge, onto the deck,

And I am thinking now,

I'll use them to build a memorial,

To a ship that tried

Thoughts

Why fear being Theseus' ship? Why do we fear surviving?

the ship may have changed, but it was still functional.

With ever bit of damage made to the ship, new wood would repair. (with ever cut and scrap, we bandage and heal.)

The gentle hands that stitched the sails for the wind to catch them again. (Every gentle loving hand of friends family and our own selves, helping us breath again.)

All the storms. All the mutinies. The flooding waters. The harsh flames on wood. We Survived.

But that doesn't mean we can't grief. We wish so hard for the smooth innocence that was the "original ship". Now we splinter. The wood old and hard. Unpolished. "Tacky" and "Miss-matched".

But we breath. We move. We feel. We live.

Was Theseus' Ship no longer a Ship at the end?
