Dr. Shepherd! -Yes?🚢 -Yes?👸🏻 {#DerekShepherd #AmeliaShepherd #GreysAnatomy #neurosurgeon #TheShepherds }
We’ve always been fans of street art. From mainstreem pioneers like Banksy, Kaws, and Shepard Fairey to underground/local artists that don’t get as much recognition as they should because their art isn’t “cool.”
But one street artist has always stood out to us. One of the only street artists I would personally consider to be a true revolutionary: KIDULT.
Simply put, KIDULT is THAT DUDE.
His style is gritty, simple, and complex all at the same damn time!! When he free hands, it’s almost aways a phrase with deep meaning (like “Money is your God,” or simply “Consume”). No fancy tricks. No gimmicks. Just Knowledge.
He chooses his canvases with precision too. (Usually the glass/wall storefront of “high class” retailers like Gucci, Prada, and LV) He takes advertisements and flips them on their heads, replacing flyers and posters with custom “advertisements” of his own. I can’t imagine how many store owners had their jaws drop as they walked to unlock the shop door in the morning. But I can imagine the looks were priceless every time.
This guy even uses a fire extinguisher filled with paint to hit 15 feet of wall in under a minute. It’s downright ridiculous.
This video puts his message and persona on display, as well as his reach. There are KIDULT street teams in major cities around the globe in this video, all trying to spread the same message:
In today’s world, Money is God.
A serious topic, no doubt. One we could talk about for days if we wanted to. But I’ll save that for blogs to come.
For now - sit back, relax, and enjoy 14 minutes of street art in its purest form.
