INFANT SOUL AGE
“where the hell am i and what the hell is THAT?”
the first lives on the physical plane are considered infant soul lifetimes. freshly casted from the source, these souls are learning all about their new found physicality. infant soul lifetimes are marked by learning how to survive. they tend to be rife with challenges to the physical body as the soul gets a hang of being in a body.
note: there are no more new souls incarnating onto our planet at this time, and the few infant souls that are around tend to live in tribal communities with very little interference with the modern world - or if they are in industrialized cities, will often be failed by the system who doesn't recognize their need for guidance, assistance, and support and can end up facing life on the street.
BABY SOUL AGE
“there’s safety in numbers. but only if you’re just like me.”
the soul has learned it's lessons on how to survive in a body and on the physical plane, it begins to discover the concept of community - mostly out of a need for protection and realizing that there is safety in numbers and adhering to the rules of an established society. as a result, fellowship is formed and explored in these lifetimes. there is a tribal mentality to baby souls, with strong ideas of in group/out group dynamics that is born from their utter terror of change and the unfamiliar.
baby souls are easy to spot by their allegiance to order, civility, doing things "the right way" and congregating with only people who are similar to them. they can be deeply protective of their identity and rejecting of anyone who is too different from what they are used to. baby souls also tend to be very religious, enjoying the safety of the rules and orthodoxy of dogma, and easily spooked by anything supernatural or based on interpretation.
YOUNG SOUL AGE
“anything you can do i can do better, i can do anything better than you.”
once completing it's baby soul lifetimes, the soul is ready to strike out on it's own. growing weary of the restriction placed on them during the baby soul lives, these lives are all about independence. young souls see the world as a ladder, and they are aware at all times where they fall on it. wealth, fame, power, all come naturally to young souls, who are the 'hustlers' so to speak, of the soul ages.
spiritually young souls respond to having a rabbit to chase and may be religious if only for what going to a good church adds to their status, and/or if they have opportunity to compete and accrue power and influence within whichever spiritual structure they are in. young souls have a lot to prove and can often be deeply disconnected from others as they view their lives and the world as a game they need to win.
MATURE SOUL AGE
“are you okay? am i okay? is everybody okay?”
after several lifetimes exploring independence, looking out for themselves, and getting to the top, the soul starts to yearn for the connection it's skipped out on. the shift to the mature soul age is often marked by a lot of dramatics - this is because it is the soul age that one starts to balance all of the karma collected during their bigoted baby soul experiences and selfish young soul lives.the theme of the mature soul age is a sense of balancing, of reconnecting, of remembering that we are all one and we're all in this together. some of the most beautiful moments of intimacy, connection, and love are experienced in mature soul lives.
mature soul spirituality tends to have a sense of drama. there is performance, there is ritual, there's rapture, there's a lot of expression and culture, of storytelling, of community and closeness. there's a heavy emphasis on spirituality that invokes the intuition as this is the soul age that we remember our true nature. this is when the soul begins awakening to the truth that there is more to the life than the tangible, and starts to seek it both spiritually, but even more so emotionally with others. it is the soul age where all that is in the margins, move to the center.
note: collective sentience also has a soul age, and recently earth has began to shift from young to mature. much of the upheaval and unrest in our world is a direct result of dramatic collective shifts where we shake off our self-interested young soul imprinting and begin to adapt the connected, balanced, intimate, responsible tenets of the mature soul age. we are realizing our connection not only to each other, but to our earth, while we balance the scales of our collective karma and awaken to our connection to the divine. all of us who are alive at this time specifically chose to incarnate now to experience this particular, pivotal moment.
OLD SOUL AGE
“we’re all going to be okay. is that a cheese plate?”
the older the soul gets, the longer time is spent between incarnations. old souls are meticulous about their lives because the soul comes in with very specific intentions about what it wants to experience and learn. there is also the business of incarnating along specific soul family and friends who want to have certain experiences that bring about the maximum amount of growth.
there is very little karma in the old soul age, aside from that with the self. being an old soul in a young soul world can be incredibly disorienting especially in the early years of the life (pre-saturn return) with experiences of being an outsider, or a loner, or extremely sensitive and intuitive compared to one's peers. there is a sense of deep inner exploration in old soul lifetimes, with seemingly little interest in the material trappings of the world, but much emphasis placed on the true nature of life.
old soul spirituality often looks like a buffet, with the soul picking a little bit of everything to fill it's plate. with so many lives under it's belt, old souls can resonate with and see the "truth" of almost all expressions of spirituality, and sample many as a means to sort out what it's final teaching will be. contrary to popular belief, most popular new age teachers and yogis are mature souls, as old souls will often seem to not take themselves too seriously and have a sense of levity to their outlook on life. there is a return to innocence and child-like wonder and humility especially in the final lifetimes before the soul cycles off the planet earth to continue it's lessons elsewhere.
a few things to remember about soul age:
no one age is "better" than another, strictly speaking. they all have their positives and negatives. (for example, we have baby soul culture to thank for vaccines and old soul culture to thank for the anti-vaxx movement)
every soul age has a responsibility to the soul age younger than it, meaning that if you identify as an old soul, you are responsible for the infant, the baby, the young, and the mature. even if you are exhausted by baby soul archaic ideology, young soul rampant and oppressing greed, and mature soul drama and emotional intensity, it still falls to you to work on yourself so that you can be a good teacher, leader, and guide.
the number of lifetimes it takes to complete a soul age varies from person to person and depends on any number of factors. there are some souls who simply love being physical and jump into bodies and lifetimes the second they can, preferring to learn "on the ground". there are others who only come down to earth when the circumstances are just right for what they want to experience.
earth is the school of hard knocks, so to speak. if you can make it here, you can make it anywhere. despite the challenges souls face on the physical plane (particularly on a planet like ours), they still genuinely love being alive. feeling as if you don't deserve life is a sign of having forgotten yourself. inner exploration and healing can bring you into balance and realignment with your soul-self and your purpose and abundance in this life.
