“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LordAlmighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.” - Malachi 3:10
I have been living in a prosperous life compare to other people. My parents may not be as rich as Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, but I can say our family’s lives are wealthy. There will be times that I desire to have these worldly riches without considering my father’s income. And I would be mad or disappointed when he refuses to recognize my desires. Call me a brat but all of us experienced this season, maybe some is still experiencing it.
But what if we differ our perspective? Why not instead of expecting for more and more, we give more and more. In today’s generation, we want to be part of this norm. The norm where when apple releases new iphones, we would like to buy some. When nike and adidas releases new collection, we are eager to get some. There is nothing wrong with wanting it, but it is wrong to let those things control what our identity is. Social status doesnt define who we are. It doesnt took out what our identity truly are. So dont be blinded from it.
And I think, one way to always remember our identity is to be more giving. The key to generosity is to be grateful for what we have. When we are thankful we will be contented, and if we are contented it will satisfy our soul - leading to a generous heart.
When we begin to appreciate how wealthy we are physically and spiritually, we will see things differently.
