He looked at me and said, “Precious”
John 4 - Jesus talks with the Samaritan Woman
How do they view a Samaritan Woman?
1. Jews shouldn’t speak to Samaritans because they are half breed. 2. Woman at that time is considered as man’s property 3. She had sinned and failed many times knowing that she has been married five times and living with a man who isn’t her husband yet.
How did Jesus see the Samaritan Woman?
1. Jesus first spoke to the woman and asked for a water in the well. He approached us first, He see us differently, and He view us preciously. 2. Jesus offered her a living water so that she can never be thirsty again. In my view, that water symbolizes a woman’s identity. For when she dwell and drank that water, she is now a woman of worth because God is living inside of her. 3. Jesus did not offer the water to the woman alone, but also to the man who she is living with. It is like offering a new life, a fresh start, and restoration in their lives.
The story is mainly for a woman that is feeling discouraged, weak, low, and empty. He values you and there is nothing and no one’s validation is more important than how He sees us. No matter what your past is, how you did yourself dirty, how you committed mistake, He doesn’t see you that way! He looked at you and said, “Precious”. Live and dwell to the truth that you are precious and you are loved. For you can only love yourself if you understand how the Lord loves you. And you can only love other people if you first loved yourself. Celebrate YOU today!
