Justin BUA’s unique depictions of ‘Distorted Urban Realism,’ says Black Art Depot, have been “single-handedly spearheading a new genre of art.” Born into New York’s untamed Upper West Side of the late ‘60s and raised by a single-mom BUA was fascinated by the “raw, visceral street life of the city” and supplemented his art education with writing graffiti and performing with breakdancing crews. As a longtime vegan and health advocate—now marketing his own raw, organic chocolate bar—BUA was a natural choice to paint this mural for The Springs LA, a 13,500 square-foot holistic wellness space in LA’s Arts District that shuttered its doors in late 2017. The mural is in the parking lot behind the space off of Imperial St. @justinbua/ @blackartdepot/ @streetartcities
