I’m on a HUGE Steven Universe kick right now. (Shocker!) So I figured now would be a good time to post my and my friends’ gemsonas! =D From left to right, there’s Peridot (without limb enhancers), @romulandefector‘s Purple Pearl (or “Butts”), Peridot (with limb enhancers), Rose Zircon (Roze), White Zircon, @romulandefector‘s Brown Zircon, @romulandefector‘s Yellow Agate, @romulandefector’s Hubnerite (Hu), @romulandefector‘s Emerald, @thestarsarent-sobad‘s Red Emerald, and @ixbreakxthings‘s Moonstone (The last two are different RP blogs run by the same person ^^)
Descriptions under the cut!
Peridot
Obviously not the Peridot that the fan’s of Steven Universe know and love, this Peridot is a pilot and an engineer like any other Peridot. She serves under the command of Yellow Agate and will do anything and everything she can to make her proud. She has a guilty fascination with organic life. (Current status: alive)
Purple “Butts” Pearl
Oh my...where to begin with Butts? She is frequently assigned to transcribe court notes for trivial cases, but she usually just ends up drawing pictures of butts, hence her nickname. “Zircons hate her!! Click here to find out why.” She belongs to a Sapphire and is always disappointed that her sapphire can predict every dirty joke she’s going to make before she even thinks about making it. (Current status: alive)
Rose Zircon “Roze”
Roze is/was a defense attorney and lived out her life like any other defense Zircon: defending her clients, sometimes with her gem on the line, but not often, and arguing with other Zircons during her free time. Her favorite opponent, whom she frequently faced off against in court, is/was White Zircon. However, everything changed when Pink Diamond summoned her in a last-ditch effort to change her fellow Diamonds’ minds about destroying Earth. Roze studied Earth and built the most convincing argument that she could, but in the end was unable to convince either Blue or Yellow Diamond and was sentenced to be shattered. She was able to escaped thanks to the mercy of a Hubnerite and from there, Pink Diamond sent them to Earth. (Current status: corrupted)
White Zircon
If there was one word to describe White Zircon it would be “Bitch”. A ruthless prosecuting attorney with an ego so big she feels as if she’s on the same level as the Diamonds. She enjoys antagonizing other gems and has a bad habit of biting off more than she can chew. (Current status: alive)
Brown Zircon
Please, someone, tell her what sleep is so that she can take a NAP! She’s the gem equivalent of a public defender and, if we’re being honest, most of her clients end up getting shattered despite her best efforts. No one cares about the Rubies or token Peridots or rowdy Quartz soldiers she ends up defending most of the time, so she’s become cynical and tired. (Current status: alive)
Yellow Agate
Ship. Mom. She’s harsh and strict and will not hesitate to literally whip her crew into shape, but she also cares about them. A lot. A lot more than she’ll admit out loud to anyone. She detests organic life and is fiercely loyal to Yellow Diamond. (Current status: alive)
Hübnerite “Hu”
Hubnerites are executioners, and Hu was no different. She lived out her days standing and guarding the cell of prisoners due to be shattered, taking them to the execution room, shattering them, and cleaning up the shards. Until she met Roze, who told her of all the things Pink Diamond had learned of Earth and of beings that chose their own destiny. She began to question what she thought she always new, and started to find a desire to find her own voice (literally and figuratively, the only thing she ever said before was “kneel for judgement”), so she’s not great at the whole speaking thing. She helped Roze to escape and Pink Diamond sent them to Earth. (Current status: corrupted)
Emerald
A commander who was drawn to Rose Quartz’s cause to fight for a place where gems could be free. She joined the Crystal Gems and their fight for Earth. She’s got a ridiculous amount of BDE and uses her wits as effectively as she commands a ship. (Current status: corrupted)
Red Emerald
One of the few gems to use he/him pronouns, even though it’s frowned upon by most. No one has dared categorize Red Emerald as “off color” for it because he’s such an efficient and deadly commander, but it has earned him many missions on the outskirts of the gem empire. His crew is a tight-knit group of gems who are fiercely loyal to him. (Current status: alive)
Moonstone
Moonstones have telepathic abilities and so are used in more grave court cases and in interrogations. If you look into a Moonstone’s eyes, they can see everything you’re thinking; hence the veil. Moonstone fought in the gem war on Earth, but she can’t remember what side she was on. The mass corruption and the damage to her gem messed with her memory... (Current status: damaged and bubbled)
Tal’kaela sat rigid and tense in the chair of an interrogation room, not for the first time. This time, however, she feared would be more brutal than previous times. Senator Vreenak had recently been killed in a shuttle accident, and some members of the Tal Shiar expected foul play. Being one of the last people to see Vreenak, and being an unlikely friend of his, Tal’kaela was one of the first suspects.
As she sat in the hard, metal chair, her heart pounding in her side, she rehearsed over and over and over again what he had last said to her, where she had last seen him...she couldn’t remember exactly what he was wearing, but it wasn’t his uniform. Despite how frightened she was for herself, these memories brought a sickly twinge of grief. She had come to consider the Senator to be a dear friend of her’s, and would have died for him without hesitation. It tore her up inside to think that now he was gone forever.
Bringing herself back to the present, she reminded herself not to say anything to her interrogator until they spoke to her, and then only give very brief and simple answers. Any extra information could be twisted and contorted to be used against her; the uhlan only hoped that the goal of the Tal Shiar was to uncover the truth in this case, and not just to find someone who was convinient to blame.
The hissing sound of the door opening sent Tal’kaela’s heart into her throat, but it seemed to just as quickly sink into her stomach when she saw who it was who was entering through it.
Fear: making a mistake so severe it costs the life of a crewmember
I–! ….10… Is there a rating higher than 10? …Not just because of the consequences of making such a severe mistake, either; I wouldn’t want to make a mistake so horrible that it cost the life of anyone who didn’t need to die.
Tal’kaela sat with her heart racing in her side, staring at the dull grey, metal walls that were illuminated by the single bright light that shone above her. Her shoulders were squared and her hands were clasped tightly in her lap. The uhlan had seen the interior of an interrogation room before--once or twice during maintenance checks--but it had been a long time since she had been summoned to one. Her last interrogation had been by her commander, Suran, and it had been fairly mild. He had postured, used intimidation tactics, shouted, and flooded her with questions, effectively flustering and terrifying her. But it had only lasted about 15 minutes before he apparently got whatever it was he needed and dismissed her. She wasn’t sure, but somehow she had a feeling that this time would be different.
The uhlan was just examining the wrist straps on the arms of the chair she was sitting in when the door opened, even the soft whoosh sound caused her to jump in her seat. In the doorway stood a familiar figure.
“Commander Saren--” she said in a small voice, unsure whether she should feel relieved or terrified.
If arrogance is a turn off for her, how does she possibly deal with Saren?!
//He lets her talk, usually. It’s the “shut up, I’m right” brand of arrogance that turns her off. His brand is more of a, “Fine, keep talking, but I’ll just prove you wrong” kind, y’know? At least that’s how she sees it. =P
Have you been attentive to your work? Your reports have been further between than previous months...
Yes sir! I have been otherwise occupied struggling to balance my duties on Commander Saren’s ship Vulcans?? putting together statistical data on how humans think it best to raise their children. I will have a report put together by the end of this month.
It was the long hair; Tal’kaela knew. That, and the fact that she had been receiving “special attention” from Commander Saren. The uhlan didn’t have a chance to explain that her long hair was part of her disguise when she was stationed on Earth, because it was never directly brought up; just hinted at. But after an “accident” in the science lab that had somehow managed to yank her hairnet off and dip her hair in an erosive chemical she was sure that she’d have to start guarding herself against the same types of petty pranks she faced in school.
Luckily, between a chemical cleanse and a shower, she was able to get the stuff out of her hair before it took too much of it. Still, she’d probably have to have about 4 inches taken off. Still, she thought, I’m going to feel ridiculous walking through the ship with wet hair.
It turned out wet hair was going to be the least of her worries. When she emerged from the lab’s shower, her uniform--which she had been forced to leave crumpled on the floor to avoid chemical damage while she stepped into the shower in her undergarments--was missing. And there was no one to be seen in that section of the lab.
“Wh-where’s my uniform?” Tal’kaela called, stepping out of the shower and drying herself off with the nearby towel. Now wasn’t the time for being overly modest; if this was some kind of prank, she needed to exhibit confidence or it would just make her more vulnerable. The uhlan heard footsteps approaching and could only hope that it was someone returning her uniform after cleansing it.
