Rare was the night both were free on the same evening--especially this close to Halloween. Yet they did indeed find themselves with an open evening, and new traditions to fill. Mark had left Mel on her own while he’d done some shopping. He gotten the necessary items they were low of, with some spoiled comforts mixed in. On his drive back, he came upon a pumpkin patch. The same pumpkin patch he noted had was always been congested whenever he was on his way for his shift. Strangely, it wasn’t filled to the brim. Thinking this was more than likely a sign, he did a U-turn and pulled into the parking.
After observing the area, and making a mental note to come back with Mel, he purchased two fairly plump pumpkins, and loaded them into the car. Mark was once more on his way home. Arriving, he brought out the reusable tote groceries to the porch, before doubling back quickly to surprise Mel. As he pushed past the door with his foot, he brought in the two pumpkins. “Guess what we’re doing tonight?” he called out, settling them in the living room table. He’d never actually done one from scratch before. But hey, if he went to med school, he was sure he could figure out how to construct these little guys.
