New record traffic for Tab Media sites
Our sites broke their traffic record for a second consecutive month in April, reaching a total of 9.5 million unique users. It beats the previous record set in March of 8.4 million uniques, and represents 100 percent year-on-year growth from April 2016.
Tab Media sites also recorded 16 million sessions, another new record, and a total of 19 million pageviews.
Babe, which is now 11 months old, brought in a record 2.7 million uniques and 6 million pageviews. The babe Facebook page now has more than 800,000 fans, and has reached over 60 million users on the site for three months in a row.
The rest of our traffic came to The Tab’s sites in the UK and US, with both networks setting new audience records. 43 percent of our traffic came from stories written by students, and the rest from staff. As usual, all traffic on our editorial stories was organic, not paid for or ‘boosted’ on social networks.
For the first time in the company's history we reached more readers in the US than the UK: 4.2 million US uniques and 3 million UK, with the remaining coming from Australia, Canada and other countries.
Our most read news story was this exclusive from Texas about a student trashing an anti-abortion protest, by our US News Editor Harry Shukman.
[CLOSED] Creative Brand Strategist (UK)
We are hiring for a Creative Brand Strategist to join our advertising team in our office in Shoreditch, London.
You will be responsible for managing clients as well as ideating, creating, producing and delivering student marketing campaigns for global brands such as Spotify, Barclays, Natwest, STA and ASOS.
This is a graduate role for 2 years, after which you may be offered a promotion into an expanded or new role.
Our advertising team’s mission is to lead a creative revolution in student marketing. We help brands build meaningful relationships with students using our authenticity, creativity, market dominance, data and insight.
The Tab was one of the earliest adopters of branded storytelling in the UK. Because we occupy an extremely strong and niche position in the advertising market (students) we are able to move faster and be more innovative than many other media companies who are hamstrung by the legacy of their brands and the type of advertising they traditionally offer.
We have access to ring-fenced student marketing spend and advertisers who do not know how to market to this hard-to-reach audience effectively, the possibilities for exceptional and creative advertising in this area are exciting and our success over the past 18 months is just the beginning.
In the next 12 months, we are expanding to become a full-service student marketing agency, with the ambition of being the largest and most creative in the UK within 3 years.
This role is for an exceptionally creative, well-organised and fast-working candidate who wants to experience what it is like to be part of a rapidly growing international media start-up and quickly develop creative and account management skills which will be extremely useful to kickstart a career in advertising.
A strong and previously demonstrated ability to produce high-quality creative work is required, as are strong communication and time-management skills.
We are a small non-hierarchical and international team, this means that you are going to get exposure to all aspects of our business immediately. Our editorial, sales and creative teams work extremely closely.
You’ll be encouraged to take responsibility and be accountable for your work from day 1, you will report directly to the Head of Creative Brand Strategy.
Check out our recent creative work for Unilever and Spotify.
You will be responsible for:
Directly managing clients from the campaign kick-off call all the way through to the post-campaign meeting
Coming up with ideas for, creating and managing the production and delivery of written, video and experiential campaigns for clients
Brainstorming and supporting the sales team in producing proposals and presenting at pitch
Working and managing external suppliers such as video production companies
Requirements
Degree from a top tier UK university
evidence of creative talent outside of any degree work (a blog, journalism, art, music - anything where you have independently expressed yourself creatively)
experience writing/editing/working for The Tab (preferable)
You will have:
the ability to come up with relevant and relatable creative ideas for stories on The Tab quickly
have a strong understanding and knowledge of student life and culture
the ability to apply your creativity to a range of brands, be able to think outside of the box and bring original, exciting and innovative ideas to the table
exceptionally high standards for your own work and are able to pick up on the small details of a campaign (grammar, spelling, timelines)
the ability to manage your time; working on creative projects efficiently alongside your role as an account manager, to deliver campaigns on time and to plan ahead
the ability to interact on a daily basis with the rest of the commercial team and with demanding clients, showing an understanding of other people’s needs and objectives
the ability to deal with working on high-pressure projects in a short timeframe. You go the extra mile to ensure a project is delivered to exceptional standards
About Tab Media Since we were founded by three students at Cambridge University in 2009, our company has been run by young journalists and producers who like being first. From the beginning, exclusive stories from The Tab’s campus reporters have been syndicated by the biggest newspapers and TV channels on the planet. Now babe publishes original video series and stories which reach millions of young women.
Tab Media is built on an unusual working partnership: between our young editors in New York and London, and a network of bold, subversive reporters at universities across the US and UK.
We have 40 staff working in our offices, where editors, developers, creatives and salespeople are building a new way to break stories people care about. Some of our employees own share options in the company as a reward for their outstanding contribution.
How to apply E-mail [email protected] and [email protected] by midnight on 28th April 2017 with 100 words introducing yourself, 100 words on why you are excited about the role and with your CV attached. Please also detail your availability for interview in London between 21st April - 12th May 2017.
Starting salary £20,000, increasing to £22,000 after 12 months
