"She has a incurable disease."
That was what was said about Ruby and Skyler's daughter a couple of years ago. It was said that she would not live long. She had a deadly illness that was life threatening. The very thought of losing Jamie terrified them both. But she seemed to be okay. Her immune system wasn't very good however. She got sick often, running high fevers. Now the child was five years old and her condition worsened significantly. She was kept in the hospital and it was said that she might not make it.
As result, Ruby had gotten little to no sleep for days. She paced around the house, burst into tears, and sometimes even isolated herself. She was worried beyond belief that her daughter would die. She didn't want to lose anyone else. Luc had been reported dead(he'd been missing for a long time.) and her parents were dead. She lost contact with a good bit of her friends too. It felt like her husband and daughter were the only things she had left. She couldn't lose either of them.
As they did every day, the couple went to see how Jamie was doing in the hospital. The doctor had a grave expression on his face as he stood outside the child's room. "I'm sorry, Mr and Mrs. Yagami, we did everything we could, but your daughter didn't make it." Fuchsia hues widened in mere shock at the words and the mother could feel her throat beginning to close up. No. No no no. This couldn't be happening. The doctor apologized once again before leaving, a pained look on his face. Knees locking up, Ruby fell to the ground, tears streaming down her cheeks. Only one word left her lips. Jamie. Over. And over. And over again.
