My client, The Thumb, asked if a discount was possibly if he let me use his hotel points to book 2 nights worth of reservations at a hotel. He’s been struggling to pay my rate since I raised it. He managed to come up with the money and booked me just once since my rates went up.
In his request, I wasn’t sure if he wanted me to use one of the hotel stays for his session or if he was just looking to use the hotel points to get a discount in general. He knew he was dead wrong asking to barter because he ended the text with, “Just curious.”
So fucking stupid. You’re clearly looking for a discount. Pretending this is a hypothetical request will not make it any less insulting.
I kept it professional and thanked him for considering giving me his hotel points. I told him the best I could do was give him my lesser outcall rate since he would be technically covering the cost of the hotel. My outcall rate is not a true discount since it’s cheaper than incall to begin with. He responded, “thanks”. He was definitely looking for much more than a $50 discount.
The nerve, bro. The absolute nerve.
