Insolvent Phantom of Tomorrow

It had been years ago since Lokis best friend had sacrificed herself to save him during a fight. After that everything had started to fall apart....

Evy was excited. Jane had made it possible for them to get all the funding they needed for their research. And since she was now also considered and expert in her field, people actually listened to her.  Darcy and Jane had moved with her, so now they shared an apartment in the City together. It was fun, though Jane was very occupied by her boyfriend, since he would eventually have to depart. Talking about a long distance relationship. 

Thor was really nice, though he always seemed to confuse her with a girl from Asgard? He told her that she was the spitting image of her and they even shared the same nickname. Weird, but strangers things had happened. Like having a real Norse good at your breakfast table. 

Today her new project would start that went hand in hand with her new assignment. She was to meet Loki and find out more about the aliens that had attacked them. This was the kind of science she lived for. Though she’d also have to report things back to S.H.I.E.L.D., more paperwork, but hopefully it was worth it all. 

One of the reasons she had gotten the spot instead of Darcy was, that Thor had spoken up for her by making the point that Loki would probably be more willing to talk to her than to Darcy. But he had also warned her that it could go terribly wrong. And of course that she wasn’t to believe anything his brother told her without verifying it since he was a talented liar. 

Dressed in casual clothes she entered he dark room. Half of the room was a cell, the other half was for potential visitors. There were no bars but a forcefield that went from wall to wall and ceiling to floor, it almost seemed like there wasn’t anything to keep him in. 

Her long red hair was done in a long side-braid, so it wouldn’t get in the way. Usually she wore it open but since the Asgardian style was apparently also to wear you hair open with tiny braids keeping them out of your eyes she had decided to go a different way. Therefore she was also wearing her shades as a headband. 

All in all she was more dressed to chop wood than to conduct a formal interview but at least he couldn’t act as if she was trying to trick him into thinking she was someone she was not. 

“ Good Morning, Prince Loki. I’m Agent Evangelyne Hawke of S.H.I.E.L.D. and am to act as a sort of liaison. Pleased to meet you.” she tried her best to sound casual, but since she was nervous her scottish accent was stronger than she would have wanted it to be.

With passion'd breath does the darkness creep

A few weeks later. It was already very late - or early, depending on your personal opinion - when Evy came home form a job. The dog greeted her enthusiastically which was reciprocated by her. “ Yees you’re the only sane person in this town aren’t you? Yesss.” she scratched him behind his ear and yawned.  After the dog was satisfied she moved to the door, that belonged to the room that had been assigned to the men of the group, and opened int slowly and carefully, not wanting to wake anyone up. As it turned out Carver and Gamlen were both gone, and she didn’t want to know where.  But the person she had actually been looking for was home. Again. Probably because he wasn’t able to make friends and or simply didn’t enjoy the company of either Carver when he went our for drinks, or Gamlen when he went to the local brothel. Not caring if she was waking him up or not she conjured a hand sized magic light that started to float around her, illuminating her with a soft blue light. Walking over to him she let the straps from her backpack slip from her shoulders and pulled it to her front before simply letting it fall to the floor next to him. It sounded as if she had carried around rocks.  The Backpack opened because of the impact and a book fell out. The shape of the backpack suggested that it was filled with them. 

“ I have no idea what they are, so I will not be able to vouch for the content... I kinda grabbed them blindly and stuffed them in. If you end up with a single copy of ‘ The History of Kirkwall, Volume 4′ and no other parts of that series, you will have to imagine the rest.”  With that she turned around to leave.  It wasn’t too uncommon for her to return with gifts. Evy did the casual random act of kindness thing. In her off-duty hours she tried to help Loki with his Magic, tried to help him get used to the way it worked here. It was strange to watch her. Except for when she slept, she was always on the move, always doing things, never standing still, as if something bad would happen if she ever stopped. And she did it with a smile on her face, though it was debate able how deep it really went.

Winter Knight

Finally a sense of normality had returned to their lives. After what felt like a lifetime, they were able to share their lives with each other, to start and end their days together, to sleep in each others arms, at least for most nights. 

Since Evy was still the liaison to Midgard, or more specific to S.H.I.E.L.D. she had to leave regularly, but now and than she was able to take Loki with her, if his schedule allowed it. 

After some negotiations Loki was tolerated on earth, so they didn’t even have to use veils. He was far from beloved, but you had to take what you could get. Now was one of those times Evy had to be on earth, they had arrived late last night and had spent the night in the flat she shared with Steve. When the alarm went off Evy wasn’t really motivated to get up but did it anyway.  Sluggishly she scuffled into the kitchen in an oversized T-shirt and found Steve making coffee, already awake, already dressed, already happy. Truly disgusting.  She walked until her forehead met his shoulder and stayed like this. “ Give me coffee puny human or I will destroy you.” - “ Good morning to you too.” he said and gave her the mug he had already prepared for her.  Evy took a sip and nodded. “ I will accept this offering and spare you.” - “ Glad to hear it. There are donuts on the counter.” that message woke her up and made her rush over to said donuts.  One of them vanished very quickly and while still chewing she said. “ You know Rogers, if I wasn’t already married you’d have totally won me over right now.”  - “ Lucky me.” that sounded very sarcastic.

Loki was supposed to meet her about an hour ago. He wasn't always punctual and if he wasn't it was usually because he got himself into trouble. However nothing seemed to be out of order when she talked  to the servants and it made her worry.

So she went out looking for him, first to his room – which was empty- then to the library, where she found him. In their usual reading space. Just that he wasn't reading. Or alone.

He was making out with Lorelei.

Under any other circumstance she would have simply left to lick her wounds, except that this display in front of her wasn't real. This, was magic. And if not she would be in big trouble very soon. Without pausing she went up to them, grabbing Lorelei by the neck. She crashed her into the wall next to the open window, without releasing her grip on her. The way she squeezed the other woman's neck was clearly meant to hurt. In one swift motion she drew a dagger from her belt and smashed the hilt into Loreleis face, breaking her nose in the process. “ Touch him again, and the next time I won't be so gentle.” she talked to Lorelei as if she was explaining rules to a child. As if this was about which kind of fork to use for which dish.

And then she moved her to the right, so that Lorelei stood in front of the window before throwing her out with a force spell. Turning around she rammed the dagger, she had 'borrowed without asking' earlier, into the wooden table behind her and looked at Loki. “ You're welcome.” with that she left the library.

History yet to be written - Dream

The Golden Hall had grown cold since the new King had taken his rightful throne. Next to him sat his Queen. Beautiful, with the long luscious trailing down her back and the dark blue dress that made her skin appear like snow. But there was something awry. She felt wrong, as if there was something missing and when she turned to him it was all to clear.

The was no love in in the way she looked at him, instead he saw an almost feral kind of desire mixed with twisted amusement. Something had changed her, wrought darkness into her being... his darkness.

It was subtle, not many would see it, the way she sat up straighter than she used to. Her movements more calculated and careful.

You cannot cleanse one thing without soiling another. And hadn't it been her that soothed the horrors in his mind, softened his anger and the pain? A creature strong enough to survive him, but was she strong enough to remain the same?

“ Are you alright?  You look troubled.” her words sounded soft but the smile didn't reach her eyes. “ Everything is just fine, Darling. Don't worry.”

Satisfied with his words she turned back to the Hall. She looked bored, and these days it held a hint of malice . “ Our guest will arrive soon.” she said and with that Thor entered through the great doors,  coming towards them, looking distastefully heroic as usual. “ Loki. You need to stop this madness!” it was a plea and a command in one, as if his words would mean anything in this place. “ What madness are you refering?”  it was too easy to play bis brother, too easy to enrage him, but always fun. “ Innocent people are dying, this quarrel has nothing to do with them! And look what you have done to her! I can't even recognize her! ” - “ Be quiet or I will cut out your tongue and feed it to the crows.” Evy spat at him in true viciousness. Her cruelty made Thor take a step back and she seemed to greatly enjoy this. Without looking she reached for Lokis hand, but as soon as she touched him she frowned and looked down hat their hands. His skin had turned blue, leaving a burning wound on her skin wherever their skins had touched. With a hiss she jerked her hand away and stood up, backing away from him towards Thor.  

“ What are you?!” the disgust in her words was almost tangible and when she reached Thor he wrapped his arms protectively around her. Suddenly a morbid grin formed on her lips as she whispered: “ Wake up, Cricket.”

Still Looking

Lexi walked through the palace of Asgard, dusk slowly dawning on the palace. It had been three years since she had lost him, her love Loki.....

She walked past the throne room, noticing that Odin was in his usual spot on the throne. She nodded softly, acknowledging his presence. She walked onto a large porch, the sky above her showing new galaxies being formed and others being destroyed. She sighed, knowing that he couldn’t have been dead. I was unlike him, he would have found a way out of it, right? Most likely...

Mischief managed

It was a nice day, at least for her, as she sat outside, misusing the outer structure of the Hall of Asgard as a place so sit upon. With a pencil in her hand, she was reading a book, writing down comments on every other page, underlining or striking certain parts while waiting to be interrupted by a certain someone. 

You see, earlier this morning she had slipped into Lokis room to borrow the book he was currently reading in an attempt to make it better. With her personal notes. She had been late to breakfast because of that, Frigga had given her a stern look and eventually there would be a backlash for her behaviour but for now it was worth her time. 

If Loki wouldn’t find her soon, however, she would have to give up her perfectly visible spot to meet Thor, since the lot of them was supposed to train together.
