so i decided to get caught up on the CW’s take on the Flash (I’m a bigbigbig fan of the Arrow, so I figured I’d like this one too, I’m not sure if you’re a fan...)
And am I the only one who thinks Michael is A LOT like Barry Allen? Because I was watching, and whoa, the parallels just hit me in the face. Barry is generally a very nice and cheerful person, is obviously someone with a strong moral code that he follows devotedly, yet cares deeply about his friends and family.
And now all I want is a Knight and Rogue AU that reads like a CW superhero show.
Like, how cool would it be if Michael was a superhero (either a new one or just a sub-in for the Flash, because that is, after all, what spawned the idea in the first place) and he also doubled as say, a forensics/CSI/profiler for the police? And at the same time, Fisk is a pragmatic detective/FBI agent who has been called into the city by his superiors to help bring down the vigilante and who has found himself making friends with the annoyingly bright and cheerful profiler (I gotta say, of the three jobs I listed, profiler probably fits Michael best), Michael.
Also, I really like the idea of the subversion here--Fisk trying to send Michael to prison for breaking the law (even though we would, in AUs of course--never in canon--typically expect it to be the other way around) while maintaining Michael’s goodness and strong morals and Fisk’s pragmatism and willingness to, occasional, do something amoral.
I just need someone to talk to me about this.
Ugh, and I don't know if I've mentioned, I love (lovelovelove) criminal AUs. Fisk as a criminal mastermind that has a reputation, one that he's never had a problem upholding, and Michael is the son of a corporate tycoon who is cuts corners and bends the law and doesn't care who gets hurt so long as he gets his cash, and Michael may have provided the FBI with enough evidence to send his father to prison for a very long time in exchange for immunity for his brothers and sister, and now he may or may not have a hitman on his ass. And he may or may not have gone to his cousin Rosamund for help, and Rosamund may or may not be a grifter on Fisk's team.
And Rosamund, who of course adores and is super protective of her cousin Michael, obviously invites him to stay with the team (something about with which she does not consult with Fisk), and the two do not get along at all. They argue fiercely. Except Michael can't help but note that Fisk is way softer than he claims to be, especially for a so called hardened criminal, and Fisk secretly thinks that Michael's refusal to do the wrong thing is actually kind of adorable.
