Birgitte Silverbow & Mat Cauthon (Wheel of Time)
Michael Sevenson & Nonopherian Fisk (The Knight & Rogue)
I just finished reading Thief’s War by Hilari Bell, and I’m... upset. The kind of pleasant upset I get when two fictional characters who are friends start fighting and I’m the gleeful non-participating member of the audience.
I think the line that got me hardest was, “I was always the one who packed both Michael’s and my bags, because I was neater. I’d gotten accustomed to sorting things by weight and fit, rather than what belonged to whom, so it took longer than usual.”
Oh, Fisk.
I’ve never really related to the heroic characters who see things in black and white and think that justice should always prevail. Obviously, Michael isn’t a flat character or anything, but Fisk just seems so much more real to me. He just wants all his friends to be alive and safe, even if those friends don’t get along. Michael can’t see it. He can’t see how Fisk still cares for Jack. Characters like Fisk always hit me the hardest. It’s... IT’S SO GOOD.
Anyway, I’m a little behind on my reading, seeing as how there are two more books out and probably this has all been resolved by now.
re reading the knight and rogue series so here’s a quick drawing of fisk!
To Judy: HeLP HES GORGEOUS AND GENTLE AND kinda dumb like selfless to a fault yknow bUT ALSO HOT
here’s a surprise sketchy knight and rogue comic cuz @theunitedrealms reblogged a thing about Stuck-as-Roommates AU that im so into
“Being abused doesn’t always stop people from loving someone,” Fisk said soberly. “It should, but I’ve seen it, and I’ll bet you have too.” I thought I’d seen it in his own relationship with Jack Banister, even if he couldn’t see it himself. Which made his point even more clearly.
