It was the first day back to school after fall break and Carol was more than happy to get out of the house early and get to school. Her parents never fought in the morning but there was usually such a heavy feeling of tension during breakfast that it seemed they would start going at each other over something like a cough. She wanted to spend the first day back looking at the positives like how she was expecting college letters back any day now after getting them sent off as early as she could.

When she made it to school after the rather relaxing walk, her first stop was the office where she spent her first period as an aid. “Good morning,” she greeted the women at the desk while signing in for the morning. The eldest woman explained to Carol that she was being assigned to show around a new student that morning and that he was in the principal’s office at that moment getting set up. “Daryl Dixon?” was the name she read off the schedule the older lady handed her.
