A summary of my study day. :-)
Welcome to my little study corner. :-)
Hello! My name is Luana, I’m 19 and study in a federal technical school, where I’m in high school. The next year, will be my next year and I’m preparing to Study engineering, probably (or not hahaha) at the ITA ( Instituto tecnológico da aeronáutica - Brazil) or MIT. I created this blog to motivate me and motivate others to study. The blogs that give me inspiration are: @vestiblr @intelectum @thestudyingdinosaur @getstudyblr @areistotle @delthenerd @studyign @studyandtea @studyingmaria @elkstudies @kimching232 @estudagirl
Just taking a while to make this presentation (not had time to post because the school routine has been a little intense), but intend to start the challenge 100 days of productivity soon.
PS: sorry for my English. :-)
My study method in five steps:
#1) Taking notes in class: over time, I was understanding the importance of taking notes in class. There are many things that are said by teachers in the classroom, that simply can not be found in the text book (or are presented in a “different” way of what is charged by my teacher). Overall, I take with me for a sketchbook, where I can write down the most important information. For subjects such as History, Geography and Literature, I use the Cornell method. For sciences in general, I use stick notes to write down settings, while in math and Phisics, I use to write down formulas. Obs: my teachers of computer subjects, usually prepare power point presentations, and send then by email. I usually print, and do my personal notes in the margins.
#2) Creating study guides: to created my study guide, I gather the information see in class, with online content and my notes made from the text book. From the moment I have an overview of the content, I can develop the most effective methods for my learning, and create a plan with adequate time for revision.
#3) Rewriting my notes: after creating my guide, I rewrite my notes, adding diagrams and illustration. I am a visual student, so for me, this is the best way to fix the content. Color codes and mind maps are often very efficient. I usually fixed my formulas in a panel in my study desk, where I can access them easily.
#4) Making flash cards: the advantage of the flash cards use, is that they are compact and can be transported anywhere. Usually, I make flash cards to memorize terms and definitions in biology, but also use for others subjects. I usually sepatate then by subject, and save then in a separate case. So, I do my daily revision on the bus the way to school. I also have a habit of passing then before going to bed, so that I can store contet during sleep.
#5) Doing exercises: exercise is the best way to make sure that if you have a good knowledge of the subject. In addition to the exercises that teachers spend in the classroom, I look for lists of questions in the other books and internet. When necessary, I ask my teachers, lists of additional questions (usually in physics and math). I usually switch this study method with reading my notes, and try not to solve all the exercises in a single study block.
