All of her traveling companions were already otherwise engaged with their own personal affairs, so she didn't see any need in simply waiting around for them. She took it upon herself to make the most of the opportunity. Having miraculously caught up with school for the time being due to a recent long visit to her own time, she figured she'd be alright with just relaxing in this era for once as opposed to hunting for Naraku or searching for the jewel. Thus, leading her to embark upon a journey of her own to get accustomed with her surroundings. She felt fairly guilty about having not alerted Inuyasha of this prior to her leaving, however it's not as though he doesn't consistently venture off on his own without saying a word. Even so, she couldn't refrain from feeling slightly guilty, despite how much she believes she shouldn't.
While better familiarizing herself with the different areas in the feudal era, Kagome had found temporary shelter in a village overnight. She was quite a ways away from the village she typically rests at near the well, since she's been traveling around for a couple of days now. Before long, she heard word from the village priestess about a terribly strong demonic aura that has passed by the other day. A few vague details were given, and she was only able to come to one conclusions regarding who the demonic aura belonged to. With that in mind, she set out into the woods alone. Well aware that it's not her brightest move considering she doesn't have her friends alongside of her, but she cannot simply disregard this chance that she's been given. Although, she's not even certain that the person awaiting her is the one she's anticipating.
With her bow and arrows, Kagome entered the seemingly creepy woods. She was thankful not to get into any unnecessary conflict, which was odd considering the amount of demons that supposedly dwell within this area. Eventually, as the darkness of night continued to cloud the starry sky above her head, she began to pick up on something. Possibly the sacred jewel? But if so, it was very faint and distant.
