yeah sorry about that, after i sent that it was like its gonna sound aggressive but i sent the anon asking what's your view on nounself pronouns ?
That's alright, don't apologise! I'm just a bit wary of questions like this from anons when there's nothing to prompt them cause it always sounds a bit like trolls looking to start trouble.
Personally, I'm a cis, straight, white female so when it comes to issues pertaining to gender, sexual orientation or race that I'm not exactly affected by, I just do my best to stay as informed as possible and always differ to the opinions of people that are actually affected by the issue in question. Meaning.. If someone that is actually trans, for example, came up to me and said hey, you were saying this or that and I didn't like it so please stop I would immediately respect their wishes, apologise and then just simply ask for what would be the more correct thing for me to say instead, you know?
When it comes to this sort of issue, where I'm not the one affected and it's not my gender or sexuality or race being discussed, my own personal view is just not relevant enough to matter over that of those that actually feel all of this in the skin.
Regarding nounself pronouns... here's the thing, in my own opinion which, like I said, it's easily changed if found lacking, pronouns are meant to take the place of nouns when referring to someone and commonly we apply thing based on gender. With pronouns like the ones you gave earlier, "fae/faer/faers", the gender issue is never even raised. You can identify as being fae, like in this case, but that in no way affects the use of the he or she pronouns since I think you can be a male or female fae? So I don't really think that identifying as something other than human should be equated to identifying with an actual gender that is different than your own.
Not only do these pronouns make language kinda confusing, specially for someone that isn't a native (like myself, even though I'm pretty comfortable with english) but I also kinda think that they're an attempt to butt in on an actual issue that exists with gender neutral/non-binary/agender/intersexed person/trans person in transition/etc, where gender IS the actual issue at hand.
But, you know, I don't know much of the otherkin community so.. feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
In the end, personally, I don't really use nounself pronouns and I think they're kinda silly because they don't really make much sense linguistically.
