@thewillastyrell || renly&willas.
this was almost eerily familiar, stumbling out of bed in the early hours of the morning and mumbling a quiet i love you to loras as he kissed him goodbye. how many times had they done this back in king’s landing - renly trying to make it to yet another small council meeting ( damn that jon arryn ), and turning up late because he hadn’t wished to leave the knight of flowers? and now here they were again, in highgarden of all places, with the stormlord hastily pulling his boots on and dragging a hand through his thoroughly disheveled hair. if he was being truly honest, strategising with stannis at this hour was skin to walking barefoot through all seven hells. especially when the alternative was climbing back under the sheets and waking up again when loras did.
but alas, the gods enjoyed making him miserable - all seven of them. whichever hell he was in, robert was probably laughing at the two remaining baratheons working together. he did always love vexing them, the stubborn old brute. but with stannis’ growing nonsense about the lord of light, renly was fairly certain that wasn’t going to last for much longer. leaning against the door, he caught one last glance at loras; noting how the weak sunshine filtering in through the windows lit his peaceful visage. gods, he was lucky and miserable.
stepping out into the hallway, he closed door behind himself - only to turn and discover an all too familiar individual right in front of him.
“ willas! ” renly bit out, a nervous laugh pulling from his lungs. with his rumpled tunic still unlaced, there was no mistaking the truth. and he’d forgotten his coat inside loras’ rooms. “ i didn’t - i didn’t expect to see you here. ”
the two of them had never been particularly careful, but this was exactly situation they had always hoped to avoid. renly cleared his throat a few times, lips skewed into his most uncomfortable ( albeit still charming ) smile, trying to conjure a plausible explanation. any plausibly explanation. to maintain some sort of dignity. “ i was just borrowing a - ” his mind was racing. “ a book. from loras. about ships.”
