my spideypool is hyper-specific to the version of them @neviart and I cultivated, which is to say.... I very much prefer them as dumb horny losers who rev up the jokes and banter in part because if they're actually left to their own thoughts, they'll have to dwell on The Horrors and The Anger. best keep those things locked in a bottle (except sometimes the bottle breaks and they get to take turns being angsty and pissed off at themselves and each other and the world and they push each other away and peter hangs up the mask for a month and blah blah blah, cue the eventual breakdown and heart-to-heart and probably a spontaneous dam-breaking hookup. ANYWAY.)
I'm preferential to a thorny post-gwen peter who's trying not to lose himself, and—surprise! now he has to deal with This Guy. maybe it's a hot take in the spideypool world, but I really only see peter and wade working out if peter's gone through the grief of losing a partner. wade's inability to die is compelling and poetic and peter needs some fresh jadedness if he's going to actually consider, y'know, romancing a merc. I like identity shenanigans where wade meets spidey and sees all the heroic idealism he admires in him (which he also sees as fundamentally misguided. spidey's cute—and a naively fun little pain in his ass), but then he meets a peter parker who's in a bitter downward spiral that's getting worse by the day. and he kind of wants to make the depressed guy with the great ass feel better. and oh no—that ass looks familiar
peter stops wade from getting too lost in his work. wade by just existing forces peter to reexamine his own righteous pigheadedness. pepper in some jokes and innuendos along the way and bob's your uncle! you have my boys
