Been Waiting for You
Exploring places he'd just stumbled upon got him into trouble more often than not. Half the time the things that happened to him were entertaining, while the other half of the time they could be an issue. Indy would eventually think of it as the later before reconsidering that it really was the former.
He'd had enough of people and their noise and proximity for the moment. The archaeologist was a sociable person, but that need to escape every now and then was very much a part of him. So, he decided to go for a ride on his bike with no particular destination in mind. It was the best way to escape and at the same time find things in his experience. Having no particular place he wanted to be, Indy drove for hours before feeling the need to stop and stretch his legs.
Knowing now what he did then, he might have also considered it a compulsion if anything to stop at the particular spot he did. Pulling his bike to a stop and getting off, his eyes swept the area in interest, landing on the locked gate in front of a path that had been used but looked seasonal at best. The kind that made him think it was reserved for snowmobiles or four-wheelers. It wasn't like the whole thing was blocked, and he just wanted a walk, so around the barrier he went. If it really wasn't meant to be used, it would have been blocked further. Right?
And so he walked. Despite the path being broken every now and then, he always managed to find it. Overgrowth wasn't that much of a problem - it wouldn't have been in winter, anyway - but it did making going a little difficult. Not once did it occur to him that he should turn back. It was another adventure altogether, and he was happy with his decision of getting away from everything for a day.
After almost a half hour of fighting with vegetation, Indy was close enough to giving up when the area opened up quite a bit. Enough to fit a a dilapidated grave yard. Needless to say, his mind kicked into gear with possibilities and drawing conclusions as he approached one of the stones. He loved the unexpected, he thought to himself as he steadily worked his way toward the crypt tucked away on the other side of the clearing.
