❛ WAIT... you tellin' me you ain't just a nerd- yer nosy as all hell, too?! sometimes, i dunno why i bother keepin' you around, v-chan... yer somethin' else, woman! ❜ but, what where'd he be without her, huh? is what he doesn't say. kinda wants to... yeah, he could go find himself another tech geek- easy as pie! they're an eddie a dozen, ain't they? but, there's only one v. he wouldn't wanna talk and hear about anything and everything with just anyone else. well, they wouldn't be her, would they? anywho... he chokes back the words as he does, smilin' into his cig. draggin' and holdin' a breath long as he can 'fore letting it out and turnin' to her, mouth all twisted up and jagged like a broken mirror. 's still a smile. ❛ i was a bad boy, v. a bad, bad dog... i didn't wanna sit my ass down. do as i was told. wouldn't beg, neither... so, i had to be put in my place. but, hey- what's an eye, right? i still got the other one, don't i? ya lose one part a' ya to gain a whole bunch in the end... heh, when one eye closes, another door opens. ❜ nothin' this big, brave new world can't dream or patch up for ya, right? only thing is... the brain and spirit's just a little harder to mend and shove a big ol' band-aid on. the ways they bend and break... well, even the best 'doc around'd have their hands full tryin' to mend 'em. i mean, he could get himself a nice, flashy new falser. prob'ly. but, this janky outta touch and time patch might as well be sewn on his damn skin. it belongs to him- it's part of 'im. in a way all the money and metal in this world couldn't never be. makes for one helluva marketing gimmick too, don't it? let's go scope that club with the pirate/cyclops/ manager creep. turns out, he don't just double as a pet project and prize-winnin' showdog, but a clown too! even in circus city, he's a sideshow act for not bein' as freaky or freakier than yer average freak. which somehow makes ya just that little bit stranger to folks... go figure. well, it ain't like shimano or sagawa was gonna cough up the eddies to doll him up, right? why bother, when all their mangy little mutt needed was a good soak, head held under water just long enough to make him forget what it's like to breathe. to be grateful, eager and desperate for air again- any kind, no matter how stale or stiflin'. just make sure he scrubs up well enough for the customers. get a nice, shiny new collar 'round his neck and he'll be good as new! like a brand new dog. a new man. his handlers always did prefer him lookin' mean and bad and scary, anyway. well... folks don't mangle and mess with their guard dog's ears and tail to make 'em look cuter or cuddlier, do they? 'sides- they'd already invested more than enough, already been so generous as to make sure he's tooled up. body platin', decentralized ticker, forked tongue, blades and a couple more bells and whistles besides... the whole song and dance. daddy's little soldier! new and improved. reformed reborn and re-made. expecting nothing more in return- only that he be a good boy and remember the plug can and will be pulled at any sec. but, he should be grateful. really. that there's anything left of him that's him. that he ain't all the way gone. he's still more meat sack than metal. still. he should just be glad they let him hold onto most of his skin. turn that frown upside down, tiger. he should be grateful. ❛ guess what don't kill ya makes you stronger... somethin' like that. m' i right, choom? ❜
