HOWEVER, I will say that if Cas was truly just Dean's best friend, and not his love interest, no one would have been weird about it. It'd have been treated more like Charlie’s "I love you."

People are TERRIFIED of a reboot, because they subconsciously know that canonically... Dean's obvious as fuck.
