Scary

It's scary.... I'm 17 years old and I'm a senior. My life is about to take off on a new track and I'm really not sure what I'm doing. I'm about to be in charge of my own life. After 17 years of my parents telling me what I can and can not do. It's hard to believe I'm not that little girl in piggy tails learning how to ride a bike without training wheels. The training wheel on my life is about to come off.

You know.... I watch videos of big recognized events with tons of horses and riders, older trainers and younger riders all galloping cross country and and riding hard and looking good..... And every damn time I watch one of those videos I feel like crying. It looks like so much fun and I love the sport of Eventing so much I just wish I could get out there and do it. I work every day, riding and earning money but I can NEVER afford to go. Most of my money goes to my horse.... I pay for board, farrier, vet, I buy his grain since he is special, I'm treating him for ulcers so I blew 300 bucks on meds for him. I own a used jumping saddle and a cob sized bridle that I bought for $20 off a friend. I don't have a dressage saddle cause I can't afford to buy one.... My taxes took that money. I don't even have a black bridle for dressage either. I don't own a show coat or white riding breeches..... In fact I only only 3 pairs of riding pants, one of them I have owned since the beginning of my English riding career 6 years ago. I barn boots have holes and my tall boots are scuffed..... Damn it. I will ride until my thighs rub raw and bleed if it meant I could get out there and feel the rush of galloping xc at a real event....... But I can't even afford everything required to go to one........let alone entries, stall, hauling fees, and hotel cost too. Why is this mountain so damn high? ......Maybe because I want it so darn bad. Breathe.
