It was the second time he’d managed to end up working a table where this guy ended up striking out – Phillip had no idea whose fault that, but generally he didn’t really care enough to snoop – and he managed a sympathetic sound. It sucked getting the brush off once, let alone twice. “You don’t want to take it?” he asked, wondering again what had sent the girl off on her way. The guy was sexy, if slightly older, but Phillip had never been one to discriminate on a little thing like that.
“Hey, I know a great bar if you’re looking to get wasted,” Phillip offered, knowing he’d want to be drunk off his ass after something like that.
"Just go straight for the nuclear option. I like that.” He shifted in his seat to cram his phone back into his pocket, giving the waiter a long look that seemed... appraising? “I already ate, so the food’s yours if you want it. But I guess I can take it home.”
“Look,” He folded an arm over the table, shifting to lean forward just a hair. “How about instead of a tip, you show me where that bar is and I’ll buy you a drink or two? Not that I should take you, you’ve kind of been bad luck for me already.”
It was the kind of left-field invite that either worked spectacularly or blew up in his face- but who would Poe be if he didn’t try?
