How much of MPHFPC did you read? There are 6 books
In total I have read the first 3, but Im currently still rereading the 2nd one ^^;
Im trying to avoid spoilers and plan on finishing the series soon...ish? But other things have caught my interest, and real-life things are taking up a bit of my time, so Im not reading it as fast as I'd like to
But its a really good series!! And I love seeing stuff in the fandom :3
Have an Olive and Claire doodle for your troubles:
To surmise, time moves in a bizarre fashion, and I apologize to my audience of three people for my laxness of punctuality. To surmise further, always listen to birds.
In a house by the sea lived a woman who talked to birds that enjoyed her song.
In a cave by the sea lived an old hermit who carved bird sculptures and brought them to life with his breath.
The birds always seemed smooth to the touch, and one day they began sending her letters.
The hermit loved the woman, he heard her singing from his cave.
So he decided to send her a letter.
The woman learned the man’s name, and asked him to visit one day.
The man adamantly refused, he was an outcast! A pariah! He shouldn’t.
But the woman insisted.
And the man relented.
And the two fell in love like those tossed from a ship
Every waking moment was spent together.
And the two lived a perfectly happy life
In the little house by the sea.
One day the woman noticed the man getting ill.
One day the man felt ill.
He died One year later.
The woman wept and wept.
But she heard, one day, a piano lightly playing within the cave.
She went down and saw that the wood of all the birds were put into the piano.
Put to life with the man’s breath. The piano played that familiar birdsong.
And the woman sang along with it.
It rose and fell and slowed and sped with her, a perfect unity.
The woman now sang from the cave till this very day.
And she was always so talented.
People often told stories of the woman and the birds, and how their song lured sailors into the sea where they drowned.
The whole business of death wasn’t the woman’s fault.
Ok but on the topic of Stanley being a peculiar instead of Ford would be hilariously ironic, like Ford his polydactyl but it’s actually Stan, who seems normal enough but inherited his peculiar genes from his Mom, an ACTUAL psychic, who plays into a scamming phone psychic.
Like imagine if Stan was able to see hollowghasts but just blamed it on the drugs bc WHAT THE HELL IS THAT CREEPY THING LURKING NEAR THOSE WOODS?? Or his peculiarity is able to persuade people and that’s how he managed to scam so many people.
ALSO WHAT IF BILL WAS REPONSIBLE FOR THE HOLLOWGHASTS CREATION IN 1908?? And mentioned it casually to Stanford? And made him more paranoid about how they would find him and eat him??
Oh amazing stunning I love this concept so much
Like Bill being behind it, maybe hoping to open a rift or really just to cause general chaos fits so well???
Also Bill would sooo purposefully make Stanford anxious and nervous about the Hollowgasts despite knowing that they wouldnt target Ford since he isnt peculiar- But Ford doesnt know that
What counts as being peculiar?? Is polydactyly just an oddly common peculiarity?? And Ford loses his mind trying to research while also not being able to enter any loops to learn more- He has/had several theories on where loops are hidden, but he cant fact check because he isnt peculiar
The ymbrines in the area probably avoid him
Meanwhile Stan is somehow duping every single Hollowgast and Wight that catches his scent without even realizing it- I can already see a very confused Wight being led on a tour through the Mystery Shack, where they then decide that the Hollowgast's sense of smell must be off because all of this is bogus
Meanwhile Stan has been accidentally but unrepentantly using his ability to get people to agree to outrageous prices and his no refund policy
I will say though Im a fan of the idea that their mom was a fake psychic, but she learned how to scam people and pretend to be psychic through one of her parents or grandparents who was actually psychic- mostly because it mentions that its uncommon for peculiars to be born to peculiar parents in I think Hollow City?
So I finally finished rereading Hollow City and now Im working on a (very rough, very short) animatic...Like, damn, inspiration sometimes hits I guess?? Lol
Ok but wouldn’t it be kinda interesting if there was a peculiar who was the child of a gem and a human and they thought their gem was their second peculiarity?
:0 youre so right that'd be really cool!
It's interesting to think about how someone might not know theyre the kid of a gem, since the only character we have to reference from is Steven who ofc knew the whole time- Did their other parent just not tell them? Or were they not able to?
And then theres the finding out theyre peculiar thing- Do they run into a peculiar in their everyday life? Accidentally enter a loop? Does that peculiar know what a gem is? Do peculiars in general know what a gem is?
Then theres also the possibility they could also do the opposite and assume that their peculiarity is just part of their gem shenanigans- Depending on the gem and peculiarity it could either make a lot of sense or be absolutely outrageous lol. A kid of a Lapis gem with the ability to manipulate water...and sometimes sprout fire from their hands for some reason? Or a kid whos able to make plants grow when theyre told their gem doesnt really have powers because theyre the 2nd gen (Forgetting exactly what its called, but like Peridot in the show- though I know it turns out that she does, its assumed she doesnt at first)
This is a really interesting concept!! Ty for the ask :3
