This is a personal pet peeve of mine and might be a unpopular opinion but I REALLY DON'T LIKE IT when some people criticize the tributes for doing something they find ' dumb '

Like those are at the end of the day children and teens in a stressful situation and some of them would be in an unfamiliar environment and situation you can't expect them to be survivalist masterminds who make logical decisions all the time they are in the games a few days in training could only do so much

Like no joke I once found a fanfiction where one comment said that the girl that died in that chapter was stupid and caused her own death because..... and this is not a joke she stood for a few seconds to see what she was going to do and she had no idea that the person that will kill her was near

Like I'm sorry but she's not psychic or see has future vision and of course after running from the bloodbath she'd need a moment to catch her breath and see what she was going to do THIS IS NOT FARE!!!!

And there are still some comments to this day that call the female tribute from District 8 in the 74th games stupid for lighting a fire and alerting the careers to her location Which I find unfair as well and Katniss was too hard on her because it's unreasonable to expect this girl to just endure the Cold all night she just wanted to feel warm that's completely understandable and she's from 8 so she hasn't been in woods before this moment so she was very out of her element in every sense of the word and it's not fare to assume she'd just immediately know what to do or survive an unfamiliar environment

And there were some people that found wovey and bobbin stupid....... I don't think I need to explain why this is problematic and cruel

( no joke there are genuinely people who think that snow murdering bobbin was justified which is massive BS he wasn't at all justified and he could have run away without killing him it was pure cruelty and there is no justification for it beyond the fact that he felt powerful for killing a disabled Young boy who is most likely malnourished @moreespressoformydepresso made an excellent point on that)

You can't expect the tributes to be genius survivalists who make nothing but logical decisions and calculated moves I really hate this and find it to be the kind of thing that the capitol would do they'd act all smart and high and mighty but we all know that they won't last a minute in the games

This is just something that gets on my nerves as someone who tends to shut down when extremely stressed I find that to be unfair and honestly really aibliest , again I will say it again THOSE ARE CHILDREN CUT THEM SOME SLACK and don't act so smart we all know that we can't survive the games

And BTW this applies to the career tributes too

Snow and Gale

We need to talk about how much Snow and GALE mirror one another, and are two sides of the same coin just cast into different ponds. Gale doesn’t have a compassion for anyone outside of his direct line of sight (i.e. the way he so quickly casts off the other CHILDREN being thrown into the games with Katniss, taking their humanity and minimizing it to an animalistic nature, while KATNISS the one actually in the games reminds him that they are people.) I see similarities in the way snow and gale treat people in power over them - hating what they have but being so fast to take advantage the kindness they show for their own gain (Madge and Sejanus) Both Snow and Gale could only focus on the RELATIONSHIPS of the girls they knew going into the games, feeling angry and possessive as they are fighting for their lives through whatever means necessary (LG with her song about Billy Taupe, and Katniss with Peeta in the arena) I firmly believe that if given the chance, Gale would sit next to snow, cheering at the table as a man is poisoned and feasting regardless.

Let’s also dive into the fact that Katniss and Tigris hold so many similarities - both raised in the same condition as Gale and Snow, but responding in love and kindness. Katniss holds a horror at the death she sees, and Tigris is quick to remind Snow that Lucy Gray and the tributes are PEOPLE. Gale isn’t sorry he killed the children, hes only sorry he lost Katniss as a result - the same way snow isnt sorry he killed sejanus but sorry he lost Lucy Gray in turn. Katniss offering Rue food in the arena, remembering the boy who gave her bread when she had nothing, Tigris making bread pudding for Lucy Gray even when she knew they didn’t have food. Both taking on the maternal role at the age of 11. Both used tesserae to give their siblings a chance in the world (tigris with the busttons, Katniss taking the rations).

And to bring it all to a head - Snow riding on a gust of wind, or a gale, will always impact the direction of an arrow.
