50th hunger games book could've been from the perspective of a Capitol stylist or Career but nooooo it has to be from Haymitch's. Sigh. TBOSAS you are the GOAT
Not even just from Haymitch's POV, which could've worked if we got any substance, but a wet blanket pretending to be a human boy named Haymitch Abernathy going through the most contrived, lackluster, bloated, and unnecessary Hunger Games routine possible. Nothing was added in this book that we didn't already have, unless you count blatant retcons.
Alas, we got a lazy cash grab milking the fandom on plot contrivances, plot armor, fanservice, and hamfisted writing when we could've gotten actual depth, nuance, and a robust lore. Sunrise, you are not my prequel and never will be.
I could see 50 other better uses of a THG prequel than rehashing a Games hour by hour that adds nothing to do the lore, creates no new moral conversations, and does nothing but facilitate a new movie adaptation. It was written (poorly) JUST to be a movie and that's legit so gross. Honestly, shame on Suzanne for even stooping to this level bc, gods, is it so obviously just a money-grubby ploy.
