What this is not a picture of: a chicken and a beer. What this is a picture of: Maggie and the fluid we drained from her belly in one sitting. Our cultural perception of animals as products means hens like Maggie suffer. Free-range, pasture-based, caged, cage-free, homestead... they all cause suffering because they all cause society to view animals as commodities.
