Hobbit headcanon-Demiromantic hobbits?
Im not entirely sure if this headcanon has been thought up yet, I was thinking bout hobbits and how even though they are small and not much for adventures, they have strong bonds with their friends. I think that most, if not all hobbits are demiromantic. If we look at Bilbo, his closest relationship is with Thorin. He didn't entirely like Thorin at first, but after heading on some crazy adventure to reclaim Erebor, it seems Bilbo has developed a strong bond with Thorin. Bilbo and Thorin also small moments together, whether it was brief glances at each other, small smiles. As well, Sam and Frodo have known each other for years. Sam is always at Frodo side, through thick and thin. Before the ring is destroyed, when Frodo is hanging off of the cliff, Sam goes back for him, unwilling to leave his friend behind. But also Frodo reaches for Sam. The ring may have corrupted him, but his love (platonic or romantic) for Sam was still there. As well, once they've destroyed the ring, Frodo says to Sam, "I'm glad to be with you, Sam. Here at the end of all things." Out of all the people he knows, the friends he has, Frodo is happy to be with Sam, the one hobbit who knows him best, the one who hasn't left his side willingly. And of course, the kiss on the forehead before Frodo departs. I feel as though Frodo is unwilling to leave Sam behind, and would take him with him to the Undying Lands. But he must leave him behind. And lastly, the mischief makers. Pippin and Merry seem to have the strongest emotional bond with each other, and it's romantic. They are very close, and are unwilling to leave each other's sides, such as when Pippin leaves with Gandalf to go to Gondor. He's scared of leaving Merry's side. They've always been win each other and the thought of leaving him scared them both. And the scene where Pippin finds Merry and says "I'm not going to leave you. I'm going to take care of you." It's definitely their strongest scene together. I also believe that they both developed platonic bonds with the race of men, specifically Pippin and Faramir, and Merry and Eowyn. I feel as though they thought of Eowyn and Faramir as older siblings, someone to look up to. And that's about it. Message me for more info.
