Medalist is also anime now, not just manga!! (It's good you should watch it I just started watching it)
I saw one clip- hang on, let me see if i can find it..................
It's SO incredibly stunning. I wish my art was this fluid and clean- but you guys get what you get. 😂 Actively taking notes on how they draw the ice 👀
I'm definitely going to watch it all the way through, more likely after I read the manga first (I typically like to read before I watch). Gotta pay my respects to the OG mangaka!
I'll probably get more into it once I'm a bit further along with my writing too- I don't want to clog my brain up with too many skating stories! My girls take up wayyy too much brain energy as it is.
I've got Ash watching it in the meantime...
Actual skating content?? In MY character-driven comic?? Whaaaat??
Hiii. Just letting you know a rando is still rooting for you and your project!!!!
they're excited, I'm tangled in my feeble attempts at story planning, I think im starting to piss them off with all this waiting. Maybe I should release something soon.....
Your support means everything. Truly. Thank you.
Since I've been without my digital art tools (My pen is being held hostage until tomorrow) here's a piece of a random character (no one in particular from my comic) I did wayyy back in 2023. Before Janey was Janey and the embers that would become Thin Ice were still being poured into a different project I was entertaining at the time. I think, without knowing it back then, playing around with this sketch planted the idea that I really could make a comic about everything I was processing, if I wanted to. The wheels started turning.
The title three drama queens reacting to their original concept art and explaining how their character designs evolved. They really didn't change too much! Just a few eye shapes and style preferences.
It was fun to play around with colors again too. So much of their stuff is in black and white, it gets dull. This was a nice break!
I just noticed that "Julia" is flipped backwards, oh well
I am SO excited to finally share this with you guys! FINALLY a team picture!!! Everyone's designs and names are pretty set with this one.
(Oh yeah, it's all coming together)
Everyone's names below the cut. This cast has a HUGE team with 23 members, not including ice arena staff and other bonus characters you'll get to meet along the way. And this is just the Act 1 team!!
If you like anyone's design or think they're particularly interesting, let me know and I'll make an effort to make sure they get some extra ice time this week (AKA story beats!)
