This simple recipe will help you make tasty thin-crust pizza at home. You can choose your own toppings, and in no time you'll have a crispy, tasty pizza.
Ingredients: 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast. 1 teaspoon sugar. 3/4 cup warm water. 2 cups all-purpose flour. 1 teaspoon salt. 1/2 cup pizza sauce. 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese. Your choice of pizza toppings e.g., pepperoni, mushrooms, bell peppers. 1 tablespoon olive oil. 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano. 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder. Cornmeal for dusting. Fresh basil leaves for garnish.
Instructions: In a small bowl, combine the yeast, sugar, and warm water. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Pour in the yeast mixture and stir until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise for 1-2 hours until doubled in size. Preheat your oven to 475F 245C. If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven while preheating. Punch down the risen dough and divide it in half. Roll out each half on a floured surface into a thin circle. Sprinkle cornmeal on a pizza peel or an inverted baking sheet. Place the rolled-out dough on it. Spread pizza sauce over the dough and add your desired toppings and shredded mozzarella cheese. Drizzle olive oil over the top and sprinkle with dried oregano and garlic powder. Transfer the pizza to the preheated oven or onto the hot pizza stone and bake for 12-15 minutes until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and lightly browned. Remove from the oven, garnish with fresh basil leaves, slice, and serve hot.
