*Charles writes on his paperwork at his desk, until Pōhaku come in and sits down in front of him*
Charles: (Confused) Is uh…there something I can help you with Sir?
Pōhaku: Why haven’t I been able to go home yet? All of my stuff is there and my garden is probably dead…though that could’ve also been the case before I came for Mahi’s birthday.
Charles: I-I-I’m sorry sir but uh…It’s kinda beyond my control?
Pōhaku: (Annoyed/Confused) What do you mean it’s beyond your control? You’re the base commander!!
Charles: (Empathetic) I have filled out the paperwork 7 times, each time I’ve gotten a phone call saying they can’t do that at this moment.
Pōhaku: *He Groans* Why does the government have to be so difficult? I’m just trying to go home!!
Charles: I understand that sir but the only thing I can say is, you either wait for a pickup or you can try to sail back yourself.
Pōhaku: My home is all the way in Paradise, I would have to cross Fishman Island to get there…
Charles: I know sir, I know.
*Later in the day, Charles tends to his strawberry bush until Victoria and her goons walk in*
Victoria: Yo Charles, ya Cloudy Bastard!! Whatcha up to?!
Charles: Pruning my Strawberries, why what’s up?
Uma: I’m not going to sugarcoat it like these other 3, we accidentally blew up the courtyard wall.
Charles: (Curious/Shocked) Is that what that explosion was?! I thought we were testing the cannons today!?
Kiki: (Nervous) We-uh…We were but that’s how we blew up the wall.
*Charlie sighs out some fog as he pinches the bridge of his nose*
Charlie: (Annoyed/Worried) All four of you, go fix that wall. No discussion about it.
Victoria: (Angry) Now Hold on…
Charlie: Nope. Not gonna fight me on this, this is literally the least you guys could be doing to fix this.
Victoria: Yeah but like…we aren’t builders.
Charlie: It goes brick, mortar, brick, mortar. It’s not that hard, go fix it.
Victoria: C’mon gang, let’s go “Fix” that wall.
*Victoria and the others leave and Charles just shakes his head*
Charlie: I’ll call somebody…
*A little while later as Charles is looking out the window and over the ocean, Mahina crawls in before sitting up*
Charles: Yes Mahi? Is there something you need?
Mahina: *She salutes him* (Seriously) Permission to head the next security sweep of the nearby island, sir?!
Charles: You don’t have to be that professional with me but…Hmm, sure you’re responsible enough for it.
Charles: Mahi, you don’t have to call me “Sir” every time. We are still friends and even if we’re technically superior and inferior, you don’t have to be that formal. Just respect my authority…my somehow absolute-yet-very-weak authority.
Mahina: Apologies Charles, I’ve just always known to address authority figures with the proper respect…Sir.
*Mahina crawls out the door and Charles sits down in his chair*
Charles: Note to self, see what I can do about getting higher ceilings and doors. *He writes down a note* Alright, now it’s time for my daily affirmations.
*Charles clears his throat and takes a breath*
Charles: You…are good, could be better but you’re good. You deserve nice things but only if other people are cool with you having them. You’re a…fine…boss.
