hi kate!
Every once in a while I get a shape or texture or a color or concept stuck in my head and I can't let it go. I've had a thing about Cassini ovals for like, two years now. They're mathematical shapes defined as "the locus of points in the plane such that the product of the distances to two fixed points (foci) is constant". They look like peanuts, like this:
Martin McInnes mentions this shape repeatedly in his book, In Ascension. I like it because it because it reminds me of cell division (and an infinity symbol at one point). It's an idea/thing I worked into my original novel because it fit the concept so well.
2. I don't tend to have a lot of intrusive thoughts, but I have a very clear memory of being in art history class at like, 8pm, and being overtired and my attention was drifting, and I'd been sorely tempted to lick the neck of the guy sitting in front of me. No rhyme, no reason. I don't even remember the guy, only the back of his neck lol
