Barry is one of the best, I say that with absolutely no irony. What's your favorite Manilow record/song? This came from a copy of "One Voice": a wonderful record full of classic Barry ballads and a couple of barn burning disco dance floor numbers. I still believe Barry has one more classic in him; a stripped down affair with some tunes co-written with Marty Panzer and Ron Dante. Manilow on piano and a few awesome young musicians. I chanced upon this Pink Floyd album at a market stall today and discovered this endearing little message from 1980 inside... 'To Dina, all my love to you for Christmas 1980 - Marco.'

#thingsifoundinrecords I picked up this Duran Duran LP—1995's legendarily misguided covers collection, "Thank You"—last year at Amoeba Records in LA, which is about five blocks from the Capitol Records Tower. Inside, I discovered a tiny re-creation of the cover with some different artists and photos that what appears on the real cover. It's pretty fragile—photos photocopied on to silver paper and the band name is hand-painted in pink in the corner. My theory is that it was a mockup from the cover's design phase and was tucked away into the finalized LP for safe keeping by its owner, who might've been an art director or exec at Capitol.
