Barry Manilow is an American music artist who is best known for his songs, Copacabana, Can’t Smile Without You, and Mandy. He has also written music for other music artists, such as Bette Midler, and for musicals and films. He is well-known for his performances in Las Vegas.
Manilow was born in New York, US to a Jewish mother and Irish-American father with Jewish descent. Manilow married Susan Deixler in 1964 but the marriage ended a year later. He got married to Gary Kief in 2014.
He has suffered from numerous illnesses, as well as eye problems, dental problems, fractures (which doesn’t prevent him from performing live) throughout the years.
In 1989, he was neighbours to Ronald and Nancy Reagan. Manilow is involved in numerous charity works; he helped with the aftermath of Hurricane Hugo which affected Charleston, South Carolina. The Mayor declared 23 September as ‘Barry Manilow Day’. In 2001, he visited Ground Zero, New York.
A Christchurch, New Zealand mall used music by Barry Manilow to prevent teenagers behaving badly. Before Manilow started playing in the mall, young people dumped trash on the ground, vandalized, was drinking and using drunk and harassing people outside the mall.
Manilow is considered cool and has many admirers. Bob Dylan is a fan, in 1998 Dylan bumped into Manilow at a party, hugged him and said, ‘Don’t stop what you’re doing, man. We’re all inspired by you.’
Manilow has previously said, ‘I heard Underworld a long time ago and knew something would happen there. Same with Fatboy Slim. When I hear them as a musician it talks to me because I hear somebody doing something very, very different, and my ears perk up. Everything else, as far as I’m concerned, I’ve heard before.’

Approximately at 10:30 a.m., Ocean Blvd. succumbed to a temporary closure under the weight of this aquatic onslaught. In the wake of this perilous situation, the Hampton police, with an air of caution, issued a stern plea to the denizens of the affected locale: "Prudently steer clear of the vicinity. For those residing in the proximity, we strongly advise a transient relocation to elevated terrain." Responding to the imminent peril, a haven of refuge materialized within the hallowed halls of Hampton Academy's gymnasium. The telltale signs of the deluge manifested themselves in various Hampton Beach neighborhoods, as the aqueous tendrils of the flooding reached toward the very heart of the coastal strip. A gallant brigade of firefighters valiantly navigated through waterlogged thoroughfares to extricate a beleaguered resident from the clutches of their inundated abode. Captivated by the tempest's display of might, Stacey Hughes ventured oceanward in an attempt to witness the raw power encapsulated within the undulating waves. Recounting the experience, Hughes exclaimed, "As I ambulated towards the entrance, it assailed me. A cinematic spectacle unfolded before me." Venturing beyond the boundaries of Hampton into the precincts of Salisbury, Massachusetts, a panorama of impassable terrain unfolded, particularly encumbering areas like Beach Road adjacent to Reservation Road. Roads named Ferry and March found themselves submerged, rendering them unnavigable. In a stern proclamation, Salisbury's law enforcement cautioned against recklessness, stating, "Refrain from attempting to traverse around barricades or negotiate through standing water. The depth may belie appearances, potentially incapacitating your vehicle." The coastal tableau, fraught with the interplay of the elements, underscored the precarious dance between the land and sea, leaving a community grappling with the capricious forces of nature.
