One thing that really fucked me up was the fact that. literally almost nobody ever cares about Semo when he’s doing something risky. Or really in general
His cheating possessive loser of a tobot protects him when he’s being targeted by a robot. Sure. So like, it’s not like they’ll just leave him to die whenever.
But you can tell none of his relationships are healthy from the way literally no one bothers reaching out to him after a potentially traumatic event, despite very much knowing he would almost never be the one reaching out first about needing help with something.
He got hit by a car and that’s the only part of his past that we (and probably the other characters) know. Nobody ever really cares, not even when he almost got hit by a car in s14. They just panic until they can make sure he doesn’t die, then problem over. Not to mention the almost cruel irony of having a car be his guardian.
He came to live with the Chas after Limo (probably his only stable-ish family in years, or maybe his whole life) got arrested. And honestly, Doun didn’t actually do much to try and see if Limo being arrested fucked up his already traumatized adopted 10-year-old son.
Then he got kidnapped and brainwashed. Then he fell off a balcony in s03. They don’t really ever talk about that. He survived, so who cares? Doesn’t matter.
There are so many instances of this, both in OG and HoD.
And it makes me feel SICKKKK how much focus there is on his prosthetics, especially in HoD.

But one character I need to talk about (because... He is the worst in this part of how Semo is treated) is Duri. Mainly HoD Duri.
In OG, he did already show how little care he gives Semo. I mean... he does care about Semo In Theory, but the practice is just not really there.
But HoD!Duri is somehow worse.
He doesn’t care about Semo’s feelings at all at any point in s1p1. Literally all scenes where he is talking to Semo about the Z and/or Hansu situations, he is dismissing semo’s emotions and telling him off for being a jerk or being controlling or or or.
He was almost portrayed as “this guy who is usually stupid but actually makes good, balanced, nuanced, reasonable points this time” but that is DEAD WRONG. His points throughout the arc were indeed at times correct and valid, but also I need you all to understand Duri was definitely picking Z over Semo. At every turn in that arc.
In that one scene I talked about where Semo guarded Duri from the ball robot thing and ended up falling over, Duri did not care. He didn’t even lean down along with Hana to make sure Semo was alright. He glanced over, kind of concerned, but didn’t do anything.
Duri is a shitty bestfriend. He shows empathy for almost everyone in HoD when they are suffering, but with Semo who is his bestfriend (and whatever else they are. The Tritan trio dynamic strikes me as almost a secret third thing type relationship), he just has to deliver the “hard truths” n shit.
